During the programme, participants will be trained under the international programmes of EC-Council, a leader in certified cybersecurity training. Upon completion of each training course, the programme provides for an international industry certification to confirm the acquired knowledge.

To determine the participants of the programme, a rigorous selection process was conducted through an entrance test involving 83 teachers from leading Ukrainian universities. Based on the results of the selection, 10 candidates with the highest score were chosen to take the advanced training. Thanks to that, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” was included in the list of higher education institutions whose teachers joined the programme.

“The decision to participate in the programme was not an easy one, as the high competition for participation, the provision of training materials and certification in English, as well as the strict conditions of the programme in view of the specifics of the industry, raised doubts. Some lecturers even refused to participate in the programme after the conditions of the course were announced. However, this programme is a great opportunity to deepen our knowledge and skills, integrate them into the educational process in the speciality 12 Information Technologies, and exchange experience with colleagues from other educational institutions,” – commented Poltava Polytechnic scientist Olena Haitan.

According to the scientist, the programme will allow participants to strengthen the staff of 125 Cybersecurity, 122 Computer Science and 123 Computer Engineering study programmes and bring international experience in implementing the best practices in information and cybersecurity into the educational process.

According to the organisers of the USAID project “Cybersecurity of Ukraine’s Critical Infrastructure”, the professional development programme for higher education teachers aims not only to improve the professional skills of participants but also to promote the introduction of innovative teaching methods, which will undoubtedly enrich the learning process and improve the quality of cyber education in Ukraine. “We strive to create a favourable environment for the exchange of experience, ideas and best practices between teachers of higher education institutions from different regions of Ukraine,” – point out the organisers.

Professional development under the USAID Cybersecurity Activity programme will begin in a few weeks. We wish the scientist effective training, preparation and successful completion of the industry certification.

It should be recalled that a garden of continuous flowering was laid at the Polytechnic: magnolias, lilacs, and various ornamental trees were planted.

Recently, the project of creating an innovative digital hub of Central Ukraine reached the final of the national selection, the university started teaching the Jean Monnet module “European experience of information security and information protection systems in the current conditions of large-scale cyber attacks”, Polytechnic representatives took part in the presentation of the EU interregional cooperation programmes Interreg Europe and URBACT.
