From May 11 to May 15, 2026, the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania) hosted the annual large-scale international event aimed at strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions – the Erasmus+ International Week. The event was attended by participants from France, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Albania, South Africa, Bangladesh, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Moldova, and other countries. Various educational institutions, including Poltava Polytechnic, Lviv Polytechnic, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Uzhhorod National University, represented Ukraine.

Poltava Polytechnic was represented at the event by Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation Tetiana Kushnirova, who presented the scientific, educational, and international opportunities of Poltava Polytechnic and shared successful case studies of our university’s internationalisation during the “Workshop: Around the World in One Session: Universities & Networking”.

The audience showed interest in the active international activities and state-of-the-art facilities of the prominent Poltava higher education institution, which, despite the war, continues to demonstrate high ranking indicators in scientific activity. During another session, “Internationalising the Curriculum – Best Practices at Home and Abroad”, led by Eva-Nicoleta Burdușel (Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu), participants, along with other scholars, discussed internationalisation within educational institutions and the challenges that arise in cross-university cooperation.

Additionally, Tetiana Kushnirova attended a series of humanities-focused events and actively participated in discussions on key philological issues. This included lectures such as “Mythology in Literature” and “Exploring Contemporary Literature: Voices, Forms, and Themes” by Aziza Jabarova (Baku Eurasian University, Azerbaijan); “Workshop on watercolour painting” by Dr. Samaun Hassan (Daffodil International University, Bangladesh); “Between History, Political Science and Philosophy, Reflections on the Definition and Nature of Civilisation” by Tomasz Ciesielski (University of Opole, Poland); “Appropriation and the Hermeneutical Arc” and “Artificial Intelligence, Lived Experience and the Resurrection of the Author” by Tomasz Kalaga (Kujawy and Pomorze University, Poland), among others. Together with other scholars, the professor explored Romanian culture and literature during the “Workshop: Discover Romania through its Language” led by Francesca Pop and Georgiana Comaniciu. According to the researcher, this experience will provide valuable material for designing the “History of Foreign Literature” and “Comparative Literature” courses for students of speciality B11 Philology.

Overall, the project featured scientific and educational events, workshops, and cultural activities that will help strengthen cooperation between our university and partner institutions, paving the way for future collaborative projects.

This event marked another step forward in expanding international academic cooperation and knowledge exchange between universities. Professor Tetiana Kushnirova expresses her sincere gratitude to the Department of International Relations, particularly Francesca Pop and Georgiana Comaniciu from the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, for their hospitality and a program rich in scientific and cultural activities. This opportunity not only enhances one’s academic and methodological skills but also provides a platform to make an impact and represent Poltava Polytechnic on the international stage.

“We express our sincere gratitude to the administration of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” for the opportunity to participate in international exchanges. The university’s support is a key factor in developing teaching potential, improving the quality of education, and building effective international cooperation”, – adds Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Tetiana Kushnirova.
