By pursuing active international integration and the exchange of advanced practices, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is successfully expanding its presence in the European educational space. Within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program for teaching staff, Svitlana Halaur, Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages, completed a teaching mission at a partner higher education institution – Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu / Universitatea “Lucian Blaga” din Sibiu – from December 8 to December 12, 2025.
To strengthen ties with European higher education institutions and to share knowledge and experience, Svitlana Halaur engaged in productive professional dialogue with lecturers in English and French language and literature. Colleagues shared their developments in the effective teaching of English and French to students in humanities disciplines.
As part of the mobility program, Svitlana Halaur presented two lectures to the students of the Faculty of Humanities. The lecture in French, titled “The Regulatory Nature of Modern Literary Texts”, aimed to familiarise students with the capacity of a literary text to regulate the addressee’s cognitive activity. The lecturer analysed the author’s regulatory strategies in detail, demonstrating the roles of contrast, analogy, semantic accents, and wordplay within the structure of a literary text. During the lecture, the creative works of Marie-France Clerc, a French author of Ukrainian origin, were presented. Using examples from her novel “Cinq zinnias pour mon inconnu”, Svitlana Halaur demonstrated to the audience a literary interpretation of the Maidan events, emphasising how the Ukrainian context is embodied in a contemporary European text.
The goal of the English-language lecture on the gender aspects of communication was to examine two critical issues: the reflection of gender characteristics in language and the specifics of communicants’ gender behaviour. The lecture facilitated a comparative analysis of gender communication in Ukrainian and Romanian social spaces.
Both lectures were interactive; thus, the Ukrainian lecturer and the Romanian faculty and students exchanged reflections on the issues raised, gaining invaluable experience in academic intercultural communication.
Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania) is a rapidly developing classical university offering students a diverse and competitive range of educational programs. Naturally, Poltava Polytechnic cooperates with ULBS through academic mobility programs for students. This semester, under the ERASMUS+ program, Iryna Pastushenko, a student of group 201-FF of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology, and Pedagogy, is studying at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. She had the unique opportunity to attend the lecture of her Ukrainian professor, Svitlana Halaur. Iryna Pastushenko actively participated in the discussion, led a tour of the university, shared her educational experiences, and joined the discussion on obtaining grants and conducting research.
Svitlana Halaur’s visit to Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu was a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation between leading Romanian and Ukrainian universities and an example of new horizons for professional development.

The faculty of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” confidently asserts that academic mobility within the ERASMUS+ program is a powerful platform for presenting their university’s developments and educational achievements on the European stage. Such mobility programs enable the establishment of strong professional contacts for future scientific collaboration, the acquisition of experience that will be integrated and applied to new joint projects, and the support for personal growth, confidence, and adaptability within a diverse and dynamic educational environment. Ultimately, they contribute to a broader perspective on academic activities.
