The Fulbright Program in Ukraine and the Kyiv office of the Institute of International Education (IIE) announce the opening of applications for competitions to obtain scholarships for research and fellowships in the United States of America for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This is a unique opportunity for academics and lecturers of Poltava Polytechnic to join one of the most prestigious international educational and scientific programs, sponsored by the U.S. government, which has been promoting academic cooperation and cultural exchange in over 160 countries worldwide since 1946.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides Ukrainian scholars with the opportunity to conduct research at leading U.S. universities, research centres, libraries, museums, and archives.

  • Duration of the fellowship: from 3 to 9 months.
  • Application deadline: October 15, 2025.

Who can participate?

Representatives of the humanities, social, technical, and natural sciences are eligible to participate in the competition, including:

  • Lecturers and researchers with a Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy/Doctor of Arts, or Doctor of Sciences degree.
  • Researchers without a scientific degree with at least 10 years of research experience and significant publications.
  • Cultural and arts figures, specialists in library and museum studies, journalists, and public figures with at least 10 years of research experience and significant professional achievements.

Main requirements for candidates

  • Ukrainian citizenship and residence in Ukraine at the time of the competition (documents are accepted from those temporarily residing abroad due to the war).
  • English language proficiency at a level sufficient for professional communication.
  • Commitment to return to Ukraine for 2 years after the end of the grant period (in accordance with the J-1 visa requirements).

What does the grant cover?

  • A monthly stipend.
  • Medical insurance.
  • A round-trip air ticket.
