The All-Ukrainian Judicial and Coaching Congress with international participation in ballroom dancing was attended by 50 judges, coaches and dancers. The Congress worked at several locations of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports: the sports hall of the C-building and the hall of competitive ballroom dancing and cheerleading of the Sports Building.
Special master classes for athletes were conducted by guest stars lecturers – titled coach with many years of experience, mentor of top couples in the world and Europe, winners and prizewinners of many international competitions, Maksym Bulanyi (club “Maximum”, Kyiv) and charismatic Belgian Joanna Leunis – multiple World and Europe Champion, multi-champion Blackpool Dance Festival in the Latin American dance program.
Ballroom dancing professionals, united in the “Ukrainian Sports Dance Union”, discuss topical issues in modern competitive ballroom dancing, the latest trends and tendencies and the implementation of a unified policy for the development of dance in Ukraine and abroad. One of the important components of the activity is the development of innovative training methods with a scientific and methodical approach and improving the professional skills of coaches and judges. The Congress became the first professional event of the organization.
The Congress was opened by the president of the organization, the champion of Ukraine, prize-winner of many all-Ukrainian and international championships Oleksandr Lemeshko.
“Judges and coaches gathered at the Polytechnic from more than ten regions of Ukraine. Poltava Polytechnic, in my opinion, is the best dance platform in Poltava at the moment, which has a spacious hall with real parquet, a classroom for individual lessons with mirrors, and these locations are well heated. That is, with all the conditions necessary for the development of dance sports in our region. Therefore, I gladly accepted the invitation of this institution's administration. I am very grateful to Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko for his assistance – our first congress was held at the highest level and we have great prospects.
Leading speakers were renowned both in Ukraine and abroad Maksym Bulanyi, a European program professional who trains world champions, and multiple World Champion Joanna Leunis. It was important for us that such masters shared their experiences, compared European and Ukrainian dance schools. The lecturers also noted the high level of Ukrainian, in particular Poltava athletes. I would like to note that there are many rating pairs in the Poltava region that represent it with dignity both at Ukrainian and world championships, competing worthily with strong schools of big cities,” – commented the member of the board of directors of PO “USTS”, head of Poltava regional branch Yevhen Bronnikov.
The PO “USTS” has introduced a rating of dancing couples who are members of the organization in order to support their professional development. The calculation of credit points for the classification of dancers in the ranking has been created.
“Rating positions depend on sports achievements and activity of dancers. The ranking takes into account not only the performing skills of dancing couples, but also the number of tournaments. Couples with the highest USTS rating will have certain privileges and bonuses. For example, the first couple in the ranking will be able to attend meetings or participate in competitions for free, go to prestigious competitions abroad at the expense of the organization,” – explained Yevhen Bronnikov.
The Union aims to train dance athletes of international level, national teams of Ukraine to participate in World Cups, international championships and competitions.
According to the results of the two-day Congress and training meeting POLTAVA DANCE CAMP, the main mistakes in creating choreography by figures and combining them in composition by class were analyzed, modern methods of teaching Latin American and European programs, features of practical skills in judging Latin as well as European programs were considered.
Such events contribute to the popularization and development of the sports and dance movement in Ukraine, the involvement of young students in competitive ballroom dancing, the formation of their professional competencies and a culture of healthy lifestyle.
