Enrollment for study in the international art studio "E-Summer Academy of Pottery" is opened

The National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne invites willing charismatics, romantics and activists to the summer pottery school. Participants will be able to learn the basics of pottery and acquire skills of practical work with clay. The deadline for applications is May 2.

Enrollment for study in the international art studio "E-Summer Academy of Pottery" is opened

From June 6 to 26, the International E-Summer ACADEMY of POTTERy will take place – a summer school of pottery, designed to give participants basic skills in working with clay and an idea of ​​the traditions of Ukrainian pottery. The purpose of the academy is to provide practical assistance to those wishing to master the basics of pottery.

Co-organizers of the ACADEMY: Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", NGO "Congress of Ukrainian Ceramists".

Among the curators is Nataliia Kormeliuk, a long-time partner of the university, an American ceramic artist and lecturer at Hood College (Maryland, USA), who has been actively cooperating with the Department of Fine Arts of Poltava Polytechnic for many years.

Everyone, aged 18 and over, regardless of gender, nationality or professional education, who is fond of the sacrament of age-old pottery and does not have the opportunity to constantly communicate with potters in places where they live, is invited to study at the ACADEMY. The total number of participants is not more than 10 people. Tuition at the ACADEMY is paid – 6000 hryvnias.

The main tasks of the ACADEMY are:

  • studying the basics of pottery;
  • acquiring the skills of practical work with clay;
  • obtaining theoretical knowledge of the history and art of artistic ceramics;
  • creative communication with leading ceramic artists and folk masters of pottery in Ukraine;
  • getting acquainted with the collections of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne.

To study at the ACADEMY, it is necessary to submit a completed application (in paper or electronic form) to the Directorate of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne by May 2, 2022. Submitting an application does not mean that its author is enrolled in the ACADEMY, but only indicates their intentions. For participants from foreign countries, the prerequisite for participation is the knowledge of the Ukrainian or Russian language.

Based on the decision of the Experts Council, the Directorate sends participants personal official invitations to study at the ACADEMY by May 16.
