First Stage of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Competition Starts in Poltava

On January, 5, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” hosted the opening ceremony of the 1st (city) stage of the All-Ukrainian Research Articles Competition among Members of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

During the online ceremony, the students-participants were greeted by honorary guests, including President of the National Center “Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” Stanislav Dovhyi, President of Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Director of Poltava Center for Extra-mural Education of Poltava City Council Larysa Semeniaka, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences of Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University Maryna Hryniova. Representatives of scientific establishments of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, teachers of all the higher education institutions of Poltava and of city schools took part in the ceremony.

“Dear Poltava citizens, I am pleased to greet you at the beginning of the intellectual competition! I am happy that Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine keeps the leading positions among the five best regions of our country in the level of scientific achievements of its students and the number of winners at the regional and All-Ukrainian levels. This is achieved thanks to the scientific advisors, academic staff and school teachers, who raise the new generation of scientific elite of Poltava.

“In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine, the academic year of 2020-2021 is the Year of Mathematics, so it's very pleasant that students more often choose physics, mathematics and astronomy as fields of their research.

“Poltava is a great example of combining humanitarian and technical education, and despite the lockdown, you are working, getting new achievements and raising modern youth with your own example! I wish you inspiration, optimism, new scientific discoveries and achievements! Believe in yourself! We are proud to cooperate with you, and of your successes and victories!” President of the National Center “Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Stanislav Dovhyi said.

A wise advice for the students and their scientific advisors was given by President of Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, who emphasized that this competition of research articles, unlike the last year's competition, is held in a new, distanced format. According to Rector of Poltava Polytechnic, this format of scientific communication makes for creating new platforms and updating the existing parts of the scientific and educational process.

“New challenges set new conditions for us, but after half a year of hard work online I am once again assured that nothing is impossible. For our students and academic staff this has become a certain normality for life and studying.

“Over the last few years, Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has had great achievements and has entered the top-5 best subdivisions in Ukraine in the 2019-2020 academic year.

“To my dear students, I would like to say that you should not worry, set your goals and achieve them, answer the question you get, and the highly-qualified unbiased jury will evaluate your work. Our cooperation with the National Center “Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” will serve as an additional positive motivation for Poltava school students and their scientific advisors. I wish you interesting discussion, successful presentations and new intellectual victories!” President of Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko said.

Director of Poltava Center for Extra-Mural Education of Poltava City Council Larysa Semeniaka mentioned the comfortable conditions, the high level of organization for holding the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Research Articles Competition among Members of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine of Ukraine at National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".

“Dear students and colleagues, the year of 2020 was very complicated, as we were working online for a very long time. Despite the difficulties, we found the strength to get ready and present our scientific work today. I wish you inspiration, further self-development and improvement of your skills, new scientific prospects and discoveries for yourselves and for your home town and country!” Larysa Semeniaka said and thanked Rector of our university, professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko for comprehensive contribution to and support of the youth’s science, and considerable personal input in the development of extra-mural education of Poltava region.

The winners of the 3d stage of All-Ukrainian Research Article Competition were awarded during the opening ceremony.

Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences of Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University Maryna Hryniova said, “We are incredibly proud of the fact that we have been working on promoting science among youth together with the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. We live in the period of great changes, when science makes the changes in society, and youth make new discoveries, bringing fresh thoughts to some scientific fields. I am thankful to the teachers for continuing the scientific traditions, and wish the youth to never give up while reaching your goals!”

This year, 224 students of Poltava schools take part in the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Research Articles Competition among Members of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The participants present scientific articles in 22 subject sections, and the most popular section (with 24 presentations) is the section of the English language. The sections of mathematic modeling, applied mathematics, mathematics, art studies, Ukrainian folklore, biology, botanics, zoology, medicine, chemistry, physics and astronomy are also very popular among young scientists.

The jury included 80 scientific-educational workers of universities of Poltava, who gave pieces of advice and evaluated the young researchers’ works without bias.

In accordance with last year’s competition, 17 students of Poltava schools were winners of the 2nd stage of the All-Ukrainian Research Articles Competition among Members of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In the academic year of 2019-2020, Poltava Territorial Subdivision of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was among the top-5 regional subdivisions of Ukraine.

The All-Ukrainian Research Articles Competition among Members of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine consists of three stages. National Center “Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” and personally its President, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Stanislav Dovhyi contribute to the intellectual and spiritual development of youth and their self-realization in professional and scientific fields.

On the first stage, 224 young scientists from lyceums, gymnasiums and schools of Poltava presented the results of their researches online in the following sections: “Journalism and Pedagogy”, “Ukrainian Literature”, “German, Polish, French”, “English”, “Ukrainian”, “Literature, Folklore Studies, Crimean Tatar Humanitaristics”, “Art Studies, Ukrainian Folklore”, “History of Ukraine”, “Agricultural Studies”, “Computer Sciences”, “Foreign Literature, Russian”, “Historical Local Lore Studies”, “Engineering”, “Mathematics”, “Chemistry”, “Psychology”, “World History, Archeology, Ethnology”, “Mathematical Modeling, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics”, “Law”, “Philosophy, Sociology, Theology, Religion Studies and History of Religion”, “Economics”, and “Geography and Landscape Studies; Geology, Geochemistry and Mineralogy; Hydrology; Climatology and Meteorology”. The jury members and organizational committee worked in 23 classrooms of Poltava Polytechnic.

Young scientists will enter the team of specialists in different fields, work at scientific establishments and leading Ukrainian universities in the future.
