Military Department Students Take The Oath

The future officers were studying at the military specializations for two years and finished their studying successfully. The ceremony was held at the 179th United Educational and Training Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

85 students of the Military Department of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” took the Military Oath of Allegiance to the Ukrainian People. After the attestation and the Decree of the Ministry of Defense they will be awarded the title of Reserve Lieutenant Junior.

The students successfully passed the training session, the main examination, a finishing stage of checking their knowledge and fixing the practical skills received while studying the military subjects. Studying was finished with the ceremonial ritual for reserve officers who had successfully combined studying at their specialization and the military program.

They thoughtfully chose the honourable life path of serving to their Homeland and made one of the most responsible steps in their lives, ceremonially took the oath to courageously protect Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity in difficult times. The minutes of taking the oath will be remembered by the future officers for all their lives.

The ceremony of taking the Military Oath of Allegiance to the Ukrainian People was held under the charge of the Commander of the 179th United Educational and Training Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Mytsiuk. The honorable guests of the event included the Head of Poltava Regional State Administration (RSA) Oleh Syniehubov, the Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor, Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Onyshchenko, the First Deputy Head of Poltava RSA Dmytro Lunin, the Head of Shevchenkivskyi District Council of Poltava Dmytro Zadvorkin, Police Colonel Serhii Bezpalko, the Deputy Head of the Main Administration of the National Police in Poltava Region, Colonel Roman Sytnik, the Assistant of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Department in Poltava Region, Lieutenant Colonel Eduard Borodai, the Deputy Military Commissary of Poltava Region, Colonel Serhii Drachenko, the Head of Poltava Zonal Department of Military Police, Lieutenant Colonel Serhii Surkov, the Head of the Staff Office, the First Deputy Head of Poltava Zonal Department of Military Police, Major Serhii Miziura, the Deputy Military Commissary of Poltava District Military Commissariat Oleksandr Lemeshko, the Director of Poltava Law Institute of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

“On behalf of the academic staff and the students’ team of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” I would like to sincerely congratulate the students of the Military Department for taking the Military Oath of Allegiance to the Ukrainian People!

“Today’s event is a thoughtful step in your new life. The oath of allegiance to one’s Homeland has always been the words to stand by, valued more than life by every soldier.

“Taking the oath means taking the responsibility to protect your family and your Homeland with your own life! Remember this day as a special day of the oath of Ukraine’s patriot!

“Make your parents and relatives proud. Serve your country so that every citizen of our state is proud of you. Do not forget for a moment that you are the descendants of heroic generations!

“I’d like to wish you that the knowledge and skills received while studying at university will be useful only in peaceful time.

“Remain insistent, goal-oriented and worthy carriers of our university’s educational traditions. We train high-qualified specialists, the level of the Military Department graduates corresponds with the high standards of today. It is you, dear graduates, future officers, who will continue the glorious traditions of the protectors of your homeland, strengthen the protection level of our country, be reliable support in developing the independent Ukrainian state. So, wishing you health, strength and inspiration, be always loyal to the people of Ukraine and the words of the military oath!” Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko congratulated the students.

“Today is a crucial day for each of you. Almost 20 years ago I stood at the drill field, too. We were all worried, although tried not to show it. Just like you do now. Believe me, I know very well how you feel. Taking the oath of allegiance is not just a promise. It is a word of honor for all of you. Keep that in mind. There is war in the East of our country. You came to this department knowing about it. What you did is worth respect. I am sure that, in case it is necessary, you will proudly perform your military duty and always be ready to protect the freedom and independence of our country,” the Head of Poltava RSA Oleh Syniehubov said.

Yearly, the number of those wishing to do military training grows, first of all, thanks to the high professional level of the teachers of the Military Department.

“The teachers of Poltava Polytechnic have a great experience in life, work and military service, and are ready to pass their knowledge to young students. Your task is to receive the primary skills of an officer as a military specialist and be ready to apply them if the state needs it. I wish you health, inspiration in your studying, peace to us all after winning,” the Deputy Military Commissary of Poltava Region Eduard Borodai said.

‘A’ grade student Olena Yefimenko delivered a speech on behalf of this year’s graduates.

“Two years of our studying has passed. Today, we want to thank our teachers of the Military Department, the administration of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, and especially Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, from the bottom of our hearts for the opportunity to pass the school of life and receive the honorable rank of reserve officers. One step is left to take the military oath, and I ask each of us to make a promise to yourselves to loyally carry the honorable title of reserve lieutenant junior. I believe that each of us is the future of our country. Love your life and your Homeland!”

The ceremony was finished with a march. The students demonstrated their military training and drills, as well as showed their skills in scenes with arms and close combat.

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is a higher education institution where students from different institutions and all the interested citizens of Ukraine can do military training in the program of reserve officers. The students of the Military Department receive the officer rank (students get a military specialization in addition to their major).

The Military Department of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” now prepares more than 200 students in three military specializations.
