“National University” Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic begins 2026 with significant achievements in the field of science. According to the results of the competitive selection conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the University was included in the list of higher education institutions whose scientific initiatives received funding from the State Budget of Ukraine.
The results of the main competition for fundamental and applied research projects, as well as the competition for projects by young scientists, published by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, confirmed the high competitiveness of Poltava Polytechnic’s research teams. As a result of the selection, four University projects were supported, which became one of the best results in the region.
Poltava Polytechnic is the only university in the Poltava region to have won four awards within this competition. This achievement confirms the systematic development of scientific schools that combine fundamental approaches with practice-oriented solutions for the state.
Since January 2026, the University has launched the implementation of four research initiatives aimed at addressing urgent challenges facing Ukraine in wartime and post-war recovery – from energy resilience and digital transformation to the social reintegration of veterans and youth protection.
Among the supported projects of the main competition are strategically important scientific initiatives with the potential to influence national development during wartime and post-war reconstruction.
The project “Strategic Framework for Strengthening Ukraine’s Energy Security: Green Transition and Decentralisation of the Energy System”, led by the Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, is focused on developing innovative energy supply models, implementing renewable energy sources, and forming the foundations of regional energy autonomy.
The research project “An Inclusive Ecosystem for the Socio-Economic Reintegration of Veterans: A Security-Oriented Approach” is headed by the Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, Svitlana Onyshchenko. The study is aimed at developing and implementing comprehensive systemic solutions to ensure effective support for veterans and facilitate their return to active social, economic and professional life.
Within the competition for young scientists, two relevant projects integrating economics, law, IT and social sciences received support. The project “Developing a Strategy for Ukraine’s Digital Future: The Security Dimension of Economic Development”, led by the Laureate of the President of Ukraine’s Prize for Young Scientists, Associate Professor, PhD in Economics, Head of the Council of Young Scientists of Poltava Polytechnic Oleksandra Maslii, aims to shape a secure digital economy.

The results of the competitive selection demonstrate that Poltava Polytechnic is systematically strengthening its scientific potential and confidently conducting research of practical significance for the state. The projects integrate various fields of knowledge – energy, economics, law, IT, social and security studies – and are aimed at shaping a modern model of Ukraine’s development. These achievements confirm the effectiveness of the scientific school “Security-Oriented Economic Governance: State, Region, Enterprise”, founded by Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
We sincerely congratulate the research teams on a brilliant start to the year and thank the expert community for the high appraisal of the University’s scientists.
The implementation of the projects supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will make an important contribution by Poltava Polytechnic to the development of scientific solutions for a secure, innovative and competitive future of Ukraine.
