The working visit of the Poltava Polytechnic delegation to the United Kingdom on March 23–24, 2026, became an important step in expanding international cooperation and enhancing the university’s participation in Twinning initiatives. The event was hosted by University of Liverpool, bringing together representatives of the academic community and research institutions.

The event united representatives of universities, research institutions, and government bodies from both countries and served as a platform for developing partnerships, exchanging experience, and launching new joint initiatives. Its key objective was to strengthen the integration of Ukrainian researchers into the international academic environment and expand institutional cooperation formats.
The strategic context of the event was shaped by representatives of the UK government and leading international organizations, including Dominic Rose (Department for Science, Innovation and Technology), Martyn Cushing (Science and Technology Network), Celia Partridge (Universities UK International), Director of the British Council Ukraine Tom Miscioscia, and Twinning Project Manager Yana Sydorenko (Cormack Consultancy Group). In their speeches, they emphasized the priority of long-term partnerships with Ukrainian universities, highlighting the need to expand joint research initiatives, consolidate scientific potential, and strengthen international academic cooperation.
An important component of the visit was communication with the university’s partner – the British Council Ukraine – during which prospects for further cooperation, expanded participation in international initiatives, and specific areas for the development of joint projects within the Twinning programme were outlined.

Poltava Polytechnic presented the results of the Twinning programme implementation, focusing on specific research projects and further development of cooperation with its partner institution, London Metropolitan University. The university demonstrated a systematic approach to international activities – from the implementation of joint research to the development of new areas of cooperation.

Participation in the event not only strengthened existing partnerships but also enabled the establishment of new contacts with British universities and research communities. During the negotiations, further steps for cooperation were identified, including the expansion of academic mobility, preparation of joint grant applications, and the launch of new interdisciplinary research projects. The agreements reached are already moving into the implementation phase.

Poltava Polytechnic is confidently integrating into the global educational space, building strategic partnerships that open new horizons for the development of science in Ukraine.
