Polytechnic scientist is elected as external communication coordinator at the European Council of Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists

Head of the Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the Poltava Polytechnic, member of the Expert Council of Young Scientists at the MES of Ukraine Anna Pavelieva has been elected to the position of external communication coordinator at the European Council of Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists.

On June 11, 2022, the results of the elections to the Eurodoc AGM 2022 were officially announced, eight young scientists from Ukraine, nominated by the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, became members of Eurodoc.

Head of the Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, member of the Expert Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Anna Pavelieva has been elected to the position of external communication coordinator at the European Council of Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists. During 2022/2023, the scientist will be responsible for the communication strategies of this international organization.

Eurodoc (European council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers) is a non-profit organization founded in Gerona (Italy) on February 2, 2002, which has had its headquarters in Brussels (Belgium) since 2005. Eurodoc includes 29 national Associations of Young Scientists. Ukraine has been a member of Eurodoc since 2014.

The main goal of Eurodoc is the development of various policies of influence on stakeholders involved in the educational process at various levels in European countries, and the advocacy of positive changes in the system of science as well as the improvement of employment conditions for young scientists, the establishment of cooperation between young scientists from different countries, the improvement of the quality of post-graduate and doctoral studies programs along with standards of scientific activity in Europe, exchange of information, organization of various scientific events, forums, debates.

In particular, Eurodoc played a significant role in the development of practical recommendations for grant support to young scientists during the global Covid-19 pandemic, participated in the increase of funding for young scientists within the Horizon Europe programs, etc.

Young scientists – representatives of the Council of Young Scientists of Ukraine in Eurodoc aim to encourage public dialogue and democracy, defend fundamental values in science, participate in the process of policy development (from assessment of needs to implementation of ideas and evaluation of results), increase awareness of Ukrainian scientists about European trends in science, promoting the spread of European scientific culture in Ukraine, creating a positive image of Ukraine in the European academic community, full integration of scientists from our country into the academic environment of the European Union.

As a result of the elections, the following Ukrainian representatives were elected to Eurodoc:

  • Eurodoc President – Oleksandr Berezko;
  • External communication coordinator – Anna Pavelieva;
  • Work group Research and Society – Laryssa Makaruk;
  • Bologna Follow-up Group Officer – Anastasia Simakhova;
  • Webmaster – Khrystyna Zub;
  • Social media officer – Iryna Lekh;
  • Newsletter officer – Kateryna Hodik;
  • Advisory Board Member – Iryna Degtyaryova.

Previously, a Polytechnic scientist became a member of the jury of scientific projects on academic integrity competition, together with colleagues held a scientific cafe dedicated to academic integrity, took part in a presentation of opportunities for Ukrainian youth in Ukraine and EU countries; Polytechnic scientists took part in a webinar dedicated to projects mobility during the war, and students together with schoolchildren learned translation hacks from Ukrainian professionals.
