From January 1, 2022, academic and nominal scholarships for those receiving higher, professional education will increase more than 1.5 times, vocational (vocational and technical) education – more than 2.5 times. This is stated in the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of July 12, 2004 № 882 and of December 28, 2016 № 1047”.
Currently, the number of recipients of academic scholarships in institutions of higher and professional education will be 35-40% of the actual number of full-time students studying under the state order at one faculty (department), and academic year in a particular specialty.
“The last increase of academic scholarships took place in 2017. I thank my colleagues for supporting the Ministry of Education and Science initiative and understanding how important it is to support talented Ukrainian youth. Academic scholarships for those receiving higher and professional education will increase more than 1.5 times, vocational (vocational and technical) education – more than 2.5 times. This is an important step towards students, which should further motivate them to study as well as reach scientific and educational heights. In addition, the scholarships of the President of Ukraine for the winners of the Petro Yatsyk International Ukrainian Language Competition and the Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literature Competition for Pupils and Students will also be increased,” – said Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet.
The Government also adopted a Decree on increasing social scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada for students of professional and higher education institutions from among orphans and children from low-income families. The Decree provides for the provision of social scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada for both those receiving higher and professional education. 150 students of higher education institutions receive social scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada, including 50 students of the I and II levels of accreditation institutions. The amount of the scholarship, which is 750 hryvnias for those receiving professional education and 950 hryvnias for those receiving higher education, will be increased by 50 percent, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The minimum ordinary academic scholarship:
- for pupils of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions increases from 490 to 1250 hryvnias per month;
- for students of professional education institutions, who are studying at the educational qualification level “junior specialist”, educational and professional degree “professional junior bachelor” or educational degree “bachelor”, except for those studying in specialties (specializations) for which academic scholarships are established in the increased size, increases from 980 to 1510 hryvnias per month; for those whose academic scholarships are established in an increased amount, increases from 1250 to 1930 hryvnias per month;
- for students of higher education institutions, research institutions, who are studying an educational, or educational and professional degree “junior bachelor”, educational degrees “bachelor”, “specialist” or “master”, except for those studying in specialties (specializations) for which academic scholarships are established in the increased size, increases from 1300 to 2000 hryvnias per month; for those whose academic scholarships are established in an increased amount, increases from 1660 to 2550 hryvnias per month.
The academic scholarship of the President of Ukraine:
- for pupils of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions increases from 1420 to 2750 hryvnias per month;
- for students of professional education institutions, who are studying at the educational qualification level “junior specialist”, educational and professional degree “professional junior bachelor” or educational degree “bachelor”, increases from 2130 to 3320 hryvnias per month;
- for students of higher education institutions, research institutions, who are studying an educational, or educational and professional degree “junior bachelor”, educational degrees “bachelor”, “specialist” or “master”, increases from 2720 to 4400 hryvnias per month.
Nominal and academic scholarships established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine:
- for pupils of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions increase from 1180 to 2500 hryvnias per month;
- for students of professional education institutions, who are studying at the educational qualification level “junior specialist”, educational and professional degree “professional junior bachelor” or educational degree “bachelor”, increase from 1900 to 3200 hryvnias per month;
- for students of higher education institutions, research institutions, who are studying an educational, or educational and professional degree “junior bachelor”, educational degrees “bachelor”, “specialist” or “master”, increase from 2480 to 4000 hryvnias per month.
The scholarship of the President of Ukraine for the winners of the Petro Yatsyk International Ukrainian Language Competition as well as the Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literature Competition for Pupils and Students:
- for students of professional education institutions, who are studying at the educational qualification level “junior specialist”, educational and professional degree “professional junior bachelor” or educational degree “bachelor”, increases from 1770 to 2870 hryvnias per month;
- for students of higher education institutions, research institutions, who are studying an educational, or educational and professional degree “junior bachelor”, educational degrees “bachelor”, “specialist” or “master”, increases from 2600 to 3800 hryvnias per month.
Recently, a PhD student became a scholarship holder of the President of Ukraine, and a student of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technology and Robotics was awarded a scholarship from the Government.
