On March 24, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution "On the denunciation of the agreements in the field of education and science with the Russian Federation."
The relevant decision terminates the following documents:
- Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of culture, science and education of July 26, 1995, Moscow;
- Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on mutual recognition and equivalence of documents on education and academic titles of May 26, 2000, Moscow;
- Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of certification of scientific and academic personnel of the highest qualification of June 21, 2002, Kharkiv.
"Due to the unprecedented manifestation of open, brutal large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, attacks on Ukrainian cities, ruthless murders of civilians, destruction and damage to residential buildings, educational institutions and health care facilities, cooperation in education and science with the aggressor country has been completely suspended, and there are no prospects for cooperation within the framework of the implementation of bilateral agreements," – said Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet.
It should be recalled that the OECD has limited Russia's participation in international comparative studies in the field of education.
