On December 16, scientific and pedagogical staff as well as students of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management Olena Stepova, at the invitation of the committee of the annual award of the project "ECO-Transformation", participated in the fourth All-Ukrainian Forum "Leadership and ECO-Transformation-2021", which took place in Kyiv.
"Eco-Transformation 2021" award ceremony took place within the framework of the forum. National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was awarded for its significant contribution to the ecological transformation of the state, business and society.
According to Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management Olena Stepova, the award for achievements in the field of ecology testifies to the correctness of the chosen path of administration as well as scientific and pedagogical staff of the university in promoting eco-professions among modern student youth, opening new educational programs in the field of renewable energy and involving scientists from the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management to solve problems of solid waste management in the Poltava region. The scientists were also noted for their activity in popularizing professions in the field of environmental protection and developing tasks for the All-Ukrainian Olympiad for enterprise ecologists.
Ukrainian scientists, educators, stakeholders of the specialties "Ecology" and "Environmental Protection Technologies" joined the discussion of global environmental problems of mankind, topical issues of "greening" of the modern economy, high-quality practical preparation of environmentalists.
Liudmyla Tsyhanok, the founder of the "Eco-Transformation project", noted that without consolidating the efforts of authorities, business and communities, it is impossible to move towards a unified goal – a strong green economy, efficient use of nature and clean energy.
"Despite all the difficulties and discussions, there are such successful examples. Green transformation involves a complete restructuring of all value chains! Therefore, world economists are not talking about environmental technologies and environmental modernization, but about the green transformation of economies. This is a key strategic issue facing every country and community. Each of us must transform our habits and create a sustainable demand for environmental friendliness!
ECO-Transformation is a project that unites around achievements and creates a fashion for a new paradigm of activity.
"Eco-Oscar" awards are given not just for the fact of eco-projects, but for their impact on the economy, the environment and society! As the Nobel Prize – not for the fact of research, but for the importance of its impact on other studies!" – said CEO of Ecobusiness Group, President of PAEU Liudmyla Tsyhanok.
His own vision of solving the above problems with those present shared Acting Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets, who made an analytical report "Institutional and legal foundations for climate change adaptation in Ukraine." The document assesses the existing institutional and legal foundations for climate change adaptation in Ukraine and identifies existing mechanisms or their absence, and provides practical recommendations for coordinating the implementation of climate change adaptation policy in Ukraine at all levels. The analytical report is designed in pursuance with the Strategy for Ecological Safety and Climate Change Adaptation until 2030, which sets out the basic foundations and principles for implementing measures to adapt to climate change in Ukraine. More details on the above report can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine.
This year, for the fourth time, more than 50 inspiring eco-solutions for Ukraine's sustainable development were honored. These are leaders from the authorities, from cities and communities, as well as top managers of enterprises that reduce anthropogenic impact on the environment, and leaders of social projects that strengthen the ecologization of the state.
