Brief description of the program

Specialized second (master's) level higher education and professional training of engineering specialists in forecasting, prospecting, exploration of oil and gas fields and geological support of their development.

The emphasis is on the formation and development of professional competencies in the specialty of Earth Sciences in the field of oil and gas geology, namely: geology of oil and gas basins of Ukraine - traditional and unconventional (alternative) sources of hydrocarbons; geological modeling and geological and economic assessment of oil and gas fields; project management methods in planning and conducting oil and gas exploration and production, as well as geological support for their production.

Advantages of the program

• the educational program is the only one for higher education institutions of Poltava region, where a significant number of oil, gas, gas condensate fields are being developed, as well as their constant exploration, including the search for new deposits; a large number of deep and ultra-deep wells are being drilled in difficult mining and geological conditions; which requires scientifically sound geological support;
• professional training of applicants in the technologies of forecasting, prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields, including the construction of spatial geological models in modern software products, using the practical experience of specialists from specialized companies in the region;
• availability of specialized laboratories, testing grounds, software, simulators and simulators, as well as access to specialized laboratories of companies in the region;
• use of scientific developments of scientific and pedagogical staff on the extraction of unconventional energy (gas hydrates and geothermal energy) by wells, on forecasting, search and exploration of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits;
• Implementation of professional training of applicants, their scientific work and formation of an individual educational trajectory, using the material, technical and information base and professional experience of leading specialists of geological exploration and oil and gas companies in the region;
• involvement of industry practitioners in the educational process;
• undergraduate internships in specialized laboratories and in geological exploration and/or oil and gas production and/or enterprises are mandatory;
• Involvement of leading experts from specialized companies in the region in reviewing qualification papers and consulting;
• acquisition of knowledge and skills, which is achieved through a consistent set of skills and knowledge in the courses of disciplines, the placement of which is structured and logical, as reflected in the curriculum and structural and logical scheme.

Positions that graduates can hold

A trained master according to SC 003-2010 is able to perform professional work:

• Managers (supervisors) in the extractive industry (a range of professions related to the implementation of various management and leadership functions that differ in their complexity and responsibility), СP code 142;
• Heads (other managers) and masters of production sites (units) in industry (a range of professions related to the implementation of various management and leadership functions that differ in complexity and responsibility), CP 1222.2;
• Heads of research and development units and units for scientific and technical preparation of production and other managers (range of professions related to the implementation of various management and leadership functions that differ in complexity and responsibility), СP 1237.2;
• Professionals in the field of geology and geophysics, CP code 2114.
