The department actively attracts the best students to the research work. Students of specialties "International Economics", "International Economic Relations" and "Marketing" under the leadership of teachers take part in international, all-Ukrainian and interuniversity scientific conferences, all-Ukrainian and regional competitions of scientific student's work, all-Ukrainian competitions on international economics and marketing, and take prize places. During the last five years the students of the department received:
- 2 Diplomas of the first degree (2013 and 2017) according to the results of the All-Ukrainian contest of student scientific works connected with natural, technical and humanitarian sciences in the direction of "World economy and international economic relations", students Vytko Julia and Fedina Olga (scientific advisor Prof. Chichkalo-Kondratska I. B.);
- Diploma of the second degree (2014) on the results of the All-Ukrainian competition of student's scientific papers in the direction of "World Economy and International Economic Relations" at the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after M. Tugan-Baranovsky, student Kharchenko Tetyana (supervisor of the D.Sc. Mr. Prof. Chichkalo-Kondraska I.B.);
- Diploma of the third degree (2014) for participation in the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the direction of "Tourism" at the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics, student Sinitsa Marina;
- 2 Diplomas of the third degree (2015 and 2017) on the results of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works on natural, technical and humanitarian sciences in the direction of "World Economy and International Economic Relations", held at the Kyiv National Economic University named after. Vadim Hetman, student Haver Hanna (scientific advisor, Ph.D., assistant professor Bezrukova NV) and Anna Lekunovich (scientific adviser - Cand. Sci., Svichkar V.A.).
- Anna Goncharova won the nomination "For a qualitative generalization of international experience" in the II stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad on the discipline "International Economics" (March 29-30, 2018 at the National University "Lviv Polytechnic").

Over this period, the students of the department published over 100 scientific works in various editions of Ukraine, near and far abroad.
Two students' scientific groups work in the department on a permanent basis in accordance with the scientific interests of teachers and students. The subject of the work of the circles concerns all major areas of development of international economic relations and marketing. Future entrants are invited to the meeting of the scientific community. The best results of the work of the circle are published in collections of scientific master's works, professional editions. Students take part in the performance of the department's contract works.

Studying at the University for students is not only an educational process and scientific work, but also interesting extracurricular activities. Therefore, the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism pays great attention to students’ leisure time.
Teachers, together with students, take an active part in the life of both the University and their hometown Poltava.
In 2018 Dasha and Yulia Striuk, students of the specialty 242 “Tourism” took part in the “Beauty of Poltava-2018” competition. Daryna Stryuk became the vice beauty and was recognized as “Miss Sensation”, Yulia Stryuk received the title of “Miss Nobility”.
In 2017 students of the specialty 242 “Tourism” and 292 “International Economic Relations” Romanenko Daria and Boyko Olena took part in the contest “Beauty of Poltava-2017”. Darya won the titles of “Miss Nobility” and “Vice Beauty”, and Olena – the titles of “Miss Modernity” and “Vice Beauty”.
In 2017 Titenko Diana, student of the specialty 242 “Tourism” was awarded a diploma in the nomination “The best student – creative personality of the Poltava Region”.
In 2017 Olena Boyko, student of the specialty 292 “International Economic Relations” became the winner of the beauty and intelligence contest “Miss PoltNTU – 2017”.
Students of the Department are active participants in student self-government.
Teachers and students of the Department annually participate in the “Poltava Vyshyvana” parade.
It has already become a good tradition to hold a quest on the territory of the University for first-year students.
Teachers of the department, together with students, constantly participate in “Ruhanka”, which is held on the territory of the University.
Traditionally, on the initiative of the Department, tourist flights are held on the occasion of the World Tourism Day. The purpose of the event is the further development of sports and active tourism in the Poltava region as an effective means of promoting comprehensive personality development and a healthy lifestyle for students of the specialty “Tourism” of our University. The takeoff is held at the base of the Poltava tourist camp “Senegal”, located in the village Nizhny Mlyny.
It is already traditional for teachers and students of the Department to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. So students, together with teachers, master new tourist cycling routes and visit the ice rink.
Trips to the most interesting and beautiful places of Ukraine are organized of the Department. In recent years, students together with teachers have visited the Taurian Games, the reserve “Askania-Nova” (Kherson region), Odesa city, Sofiyivskyi Park (Uman city), Khortytsyu Island, Feldman Ecopark (Kharkiv region).
