National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, as one of the ten most environmentally friendly universities in Ukraine according to the international ranking UI GreenMetric, is constantly working on the landscaping and maintenance of the territory, modernising the campus in accordance with the modern trends of urban greening and recreational nature management.

Poltava Polytechnic knows how to create comfortable conditions for studying and resting, pleasantly surprising guests, campus residents, and Poltava city residents with the European facilities of academic buildings and dormitories. The joint coordinated efforts of a powerful management team of Poltava Polytechnic create comfortable conditions for effective educational, scientific and leisure activities on the elegant, green territory of the European-level campus.
According to Assistant to Rector for Administrative and Economic Affairs Olena Omelchenko, with the arrival of spring, the Economic Department has a lot of work to do with cleaning and landscaping, but the university is always ready for any seasonal challenges.
“The work on the territory of Poltava Polytechnic doesn’t stop throughout the year, and spring is no exception for us. New plants and young trees are planted every year. At the moment, the remnants of last year’s grass have been removed from all the natural lawns, the appropriate mineral fertilisers have been applied, and watering has been connected for the active growth of young greenery.
Every day, the employees of the Economic Department are actively involved in various locations of the university and the campus. Thanks to the successfully implemented ideas of the university administration, the Polytechnic territory has become a well-groomed oasis in the city, which is plunged into problems with the work of municipal services. The innovative space is pleasing with neat benches, smooth paths, and well-maintained lawns.
National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has its own tourist-attractive “business card”: a beautifully landscaped area in front of the Central Building, a revitalised park and “open-air auditoriums”. The second stage of the dendrological revitalisation of the territory is currently underway,” – says Olena Omelchenko.
The university continues to work on creating corners with young plantings, green recreation areas, and sowing perennial grass.
As part of the All-Ukrainian campaign “For a Clean Environment”, the administration of Poltava Polytechnic is planning to plant new types of ornamental plants on the campus in advance.
Soon, the new “business card” of Poltava Polytechnic, Japanese sakura, will be blossoming for the second time.
It should be recalled that the university presented a social cohesion project, successfully implemented with the support of IOM and the Government of Japan, and the university is successfully implementing a thermal modernisation project from the European Investment Bank.
