An innovative laboratory of psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work is opened in the Polytechnic

On December 22, an innovative laboratory of psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work was solemnly opened on the basis of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Physical Culture of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". In order to improve the quality of practical preparation of highly qualified specialists in specialties "Psychology" and "Preschool Education", the laboratory was equipped with the latest technology and there was created a comfortable scientific and educational space for individual and group classes, consultations as well as correctional work with a practical psychologist.

The symbolic ribbon in the presence of lecturers and students of the university was cut by the rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Chairman of the Commission on Education, Science and Culture of the Poltava Regional Council, Deputy of the Regional Council Oleh Didenko, Doctor of Psychology, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Professor Svitlana Yalanska and President of the Student Parliament of Poltava Polytechnic Liudmyla Bylym.

According to the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, there are wide prospects of the leading multidisciplinary classical university in the field of preparing the specialists not only in technical specialties but also humanities professionals, increasing the competitiveness of its graduates in the modern labor market.

"National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" continues to move dynamically in its own innovative development and successfully implement far-sighted scientific and educational strategies!

Successful implementation of the rector's program tasks, excellent material and technical base, effective management and balanced administration decisions have become a necessary prerequisite for creating comfortable conditions for students’ education and fruitful research activities of lecturers in our leading institution of higher education.

On the eve of the New Year holidays, the most cherished wishes, dreams and the most grandiose projects should certainly come true. A special gift was given to the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, whose scientists strive to promote the profession of psychologist among modern student youth, demonstrating their own commitment and loyalty to the chosen profession. The university could not stay away from such an initiative of lecturers-psychologists.

Creation of such a location deserves special attention, since in today's troubled information world, the profession of psychologist is essential – today’s generation suffers from stress, psycho-emotional and moral pressure.

The newly opened laboratory will become a multifunctional platform for providing psychological services to individuals and legal entities, conducting joint research and fruitful professional communication with representatives of the scientific community of foreign partner universities. Such multifunctionality of the innovative location is possible due to the use of special state-of-the-art equipment, digital technologies from well-known brands as well as educational and methodological tools.

High indicators in the world rankings testify to the correctness of the chosen educational trajectory and the need to work even more actively, embodying the latest educational trends.

To stop for at least a moment, get inspired and be filled with positive energy, find inner strength and set new achievable goals – this is a simple "recipe for success" from Poltava Polytechnic, as a multidisciplinary classical university!" – commented Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

According to the chairman of the Commission on Education, Science and Culture of the Poltava Regional Council, Deputy of the Regional Council Oleh Didenko, the profession of psychologist, of course, will not solve all the problems of mankind accumulated over the years, but will significantly reduce the tension prevailing in society: "Choosing such a responsible and essential profession, it is necessary, first of all, to be ready to help a person who is morally and psychologically lost. Without reliable psycho-emotional support, humanity will simply be overwhelmed by their own troubles and unable to deal with the most pressing problems. It is extremely gratifying that Poltava Polytechnic, as one of the leading classical universities in Ukraine, has once again become the most modern platform for establishing a polyprofessional dialogue of science and practice, the embodiment of the prevailing scientific and educational synergy. The created comfortable communication environment of a practical psychologist with visitors shows that successful implementation of all aims is not far off, and students will be able to receive high-quality education of the European level and to deepen the soft skills gained! I wish everyone success, new significant achievements and only pleasant emotions!"

Svitlana Yalanska, Doctor of Psychology, Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Poltava Polytechnic, presented the wide scientific and educational as well as high-tech possibilities of the newly opened innovative laboratory of psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work. She, on behalf of the scientific and pedagogical staff, thanked the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko personally for the comprehensive support and promotion of high-quality practical preparation of specialists in the field of psychology and preschool education.

The participants could test the capabilities of the laboratory presented by scientists.

"The laboratory of psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work opens additional opportunities for scientists of our department who will be able to qualitatively prepare students in the chosen specialty, implement the latest training technologies and techniques, conduct a variety of practical studies, psychological consultations and diagnosis, work together on correcting the behavioral reactions of visitors, as well as provide professional services to both individuals and legal entities," – said the scientist. In particular, lecturers of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy have prepared a number of publications in professional Ukrainian and foreign editions on the most modern design techniques, undergo certified educational programs on the use of projective techniques, art therapy tools in the work of psychologists and preschool workers.

Up-to-date recliner chairs provide opportunities for comfortable cooperation of a practical psychologist with a client during psychological counseling, used for psychological relief due to the functions of massage and temperature changes, in combination with music therapy, changing room lighting, etc. According to Svitlana Yalanska, effective means for psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work are metaphorical associative images. The images presented on the cards become a visible metaphor of our values, fears, desires, associations related to our inner experience.

Practical cases of using modern neurocontrollers in the educational process, the positive impact of sand therapy ("Sand play"), the effectiveness of massage mats-puzzles, furniture-transformers for conducting various studies, trainings and establishing psycho-emotional contact with visitors were presented by scientists of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" – Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Yurii Horbenko; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Lesia Klevaka; Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Nina Atamanchuk and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Nataliia Saiko.

The NeuroSky headset reads electrical impulses of neurons from the surface of the head and automatically analyzes them by performing an EEG (electroencephalogram). In essence, this is a real single-channel electroencephalograph, the quality of EEG reading by NeuroSky headset is not inferior to modern professional medical electroencephalographs (B-Alert X24 and Enobio 20, second only to the number of EEG channels). One of the options for the applied use of the neurogarniture was the formation of meditative skills, as the software allows one to visualize the state of the human brain in real time and with a help of feedback to achieve its correction both in the direction of relaxation and understanding the possibilities of activating attention when performing complex tasks. The "concentration" regime can be used to treat attention deficit disorder, which is increasingly common in children and adults, just as it is used to train meditation using the "meditation" option.

Thanks to the method of "Sand play" – sand therapy, a person can express their deepest emotional experiences, get rid of fears, relieve internal tension, increase self-confidence, and open new paths of development. Games with wet and dry sand allow one to express what a person is not yet aware of, what he/she does not understand, but what bothers, worries. Specialists of the department also practice the use of Su-Jok – a massage ball that affects the biologically active points of the palm and fingers, which correspond to certain organs and parts of the body. Exercises with Su-Jok develop fine motor skills of the hands, strengthen the body and increase the energy potential of the child.

Massage mat-puzzles are effectively used in preventive and corrective work for individual and group classes. The purpose of the puzzle mat is foot massage to strengthen them; sensory development of children is the study of colors, shapes, development of tactile sensations, etc. The principle of mat work is in the influence of relief elements on a foot surface, stimulation of blood circulation, nervous, immune, digestive systems.

It is worth highlighting the features and benefits of using the mat: high efficiency, compactness, simple care, versatility, affordability, attractive appearance.

The laboratory is equipped with special tables-transformers, convenient to use for trainings, group classes, teamwork, and very quickly combined for the desired form of work.

Students of specialties "Psychology" and "Preschool Education" of Poltava Polytechnic A. Tverdostup and A. Kolesnikova were lucky to be among the first to test the technologies of this laboratory, they shared their impressions at the opening of the laboratory:

"The new scientific and educational location is a great opportunity for additional professional communication, engaging in scientific activities, and with such excellent lecturers, our education will be more qualitative. After all, firstly, young people undertake to master the profession of a psychologist in order to learn to think actively, to know themselves and to know the people around them through their own world, as well as to expand their worldview. For us personally, the profession of a psychologist is interesting and necessary for humanity!"

The Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Poltava Polytechnic works closely with socio-psychological and rehabilitation centers of Poltava, is open to dialogue with potential employers for various forms of practical activities, as well as the provision of professional services to both individuals and legal entities. Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department invites stakeholders, young scientists and experienced scientists of leading Ukrainian and foreign universities to fruitful scientific and educational cooperation.

Earlier, 5 new training centers and a training base for e-sportsmen were opened at Poltava Polytechnic, and a delegation of representatives of the European Investment Bank visited the university.
