In Montemor-o-Velho (Portugal), Ukrainian canoeists achieved impressive results at the World Junior and Youth Canoe Sprint Championships!
The four-person canoe crew, including Yaroslav Verbliud, a student of 201-FS group of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, won a confident victory in the 500-meter race. The Ukrainian quartet finished with a time of 1:35.73, ahead of their competitors and confidently securing the title of World Champions.
The silver medalists of the World Championships were the women’s four (juniors), which included Iryna Nedilko, a student of 101-FS group of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, with a result of 1:58.62 in the 500-meter race.


The World Canoe and Kayak Championships are one of the most prestigious international competitions, bringing together national junior and under-23 teams. This year, representatives from dozens of countries took part, but it was the Ukrainian team that demonstrated the highest level of skill and coordination. The impressive results of the canoe fours were an example of powerful teamwork, and the participation of Poltava Polytechnic students Yaroslav Verbliud and Iryna Nedilko in the crew is clear evidence that the University trains world-class athletes.

It should be noted that Anastasiia Kovalenko, a teacher of Poltava Polytechnic, is the European champion in Sports Billiards, and Yaroslav Lystopad, a student of Poltava Polytechnic, is the winner of the Ukrainian Cup in Discus Throw.
