Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) members of Poltava Polytechnic had a special event – an inspiring meeting with Anastasiia Shybetska, Secretary of the Central Ukrainian Section of SPE and an experienced specialist in geology.
It was not just a conversation about career – it was a conversation about the path worth taking. Anastasiia Shybetska shared her own story of professional growth, the challenges she had to overcome, and what helped her find herself in a large service company.
During the meeting, the participants learned:
- how to start a career in geology;
- what is really important for a successful interview: a diploma, knowledge or intrinsic motivation;
- where to look for a first job and how to stand out among other candidates;
- what the reality of working in a large service company looks like: pros and cons;
- what skills will be in demand in the near future and where the industry is heading.
An open dialogue with students of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas was especially valuable, as they had the opportunity to ask questions, get first-hand advice and hear something more than what is usually written in textbooks – the truth about the geology profession from the inside.
It was a meeting about honesty, experience, inspiration and the strength not to give up. It is events like this that inspire faith in the future and help young professionals take their first confident step into the oil and gas industry.
Student Chapter of SPE of Poltava Polytechnic actively organises events aimed at the professional development of young people, establishing contacts with industry representatives and expanding practical knowledge. Such meetings are an opportunity not only to hear real success stories, but also to get inspired for their own achievements in the oil and gas industry.
