On the basis of the Water Sports Centre in the British city of Manchester – Manchester Aquatics Centre, the World Para Swimming Championships are underway, where 538 athletes from 67 countries of the world are competing for the championship.
As part of the national team, the student of group 301-FS of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine in swimming Oleksii Virchenko, who won the gold medal in the mixed relay, continues to perform successfully in the national team. The athlete, together with Kateryna Tkachuk, Oleksii Fedyna, and Anna Stetsenko, successfully covered the distance of 4x100 meters in 4.25.78 minutes, setting a world record for Ukraine at the World Para Swimming Championship.
It should be recalled that the World Para Swimming Championship will be the most important stage in obtaining licenses for the 2024 Paralympics.

Previously, Oleksii Virchenko became the gold medallist of the World Para Swimming Championship in the 100-meter butterfly and won the bronze medal of the Championship, covering the distance of 100 meters in freestyle.
