On 10 September, within the framework of the fruitful cooperation between National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine, a training lecture was held at the Department of Public Administration, Management and Law of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of Poltava Polytechnic.
Arsenijs Mihejevs, EUAM Senior Adviser on General Policing, gave the student body of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic an interactive lecture “International Police Cooperation” on the key areas of activity of international organisations in the fight against organised crime. The students of the speciality 081 Law were active participants of the event, showing a special interest in the topic and asking the speaker a number of topical questions.
Within the framework of the event, the students enhanced their knowledge of the work of Europol and Interpol, two key organisations that contribute to the fight against international crime. The speaker emphasised the importance of information exchange between the EU member states, which is the basis for effective counteraction to transnational criminal groups.
The participants paid special attention to the practical cases of Latvia's experience in fighting international crime. Arsenijs Mihejevs shared with the youth practical examples of how Latvia uses the capabilities of Europol and Interpol to prevent crimes, in particular in the areas of smuggling, human trafficking and cybercrime.
Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic systematically implements the practice of involving law enforcement representatives in educational and scientific events. It has already become a well-established tradition that allows students to gain valuable knowledge and practical skills from the specialists working in law enforcement. Thus, representatives of the Patrol Police Department in the Poltava Region – Maryna Ziniukha, Head of the Public Relations Department, and Kateryna Udovychenko, Inspector of the Public Relations Department – joined the practical discussion as part of the lecture-training.
The students majoring in 081 Law had a unique opportunity to learn about the peculiarities of international police cooperation and to ask the speaker questions about real cases that law enforcement officers had to face at the national and international levels.
Effective cooperation with the representatives of international organisations helps students of Poltava Polytechnic to get acquainted with the activities of law enforcement agencies at the international level and to study interesting global cases of fighting crime.
Earlier, EUAM Ukraine held a seminar for law enforcement officers on financial investigations at Poltava Polytechnic.
