DTEK Oil&Gas opens an innovative location in Poltava Polytechnic

An up-to-date space and an alley branded in honor of the university’s partner and the main investor of the project – DTEK Oil&Gas, have been created on the historical territory near the architectural monument – the central building of Poltava Polytechnic. It took only three months from the coming up with the creative idea and approval of the project to practical implementation.

The concept was developed by Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", and CEO of DTEK Oil&Gas, member of the Supervisory Board of the University – Igor Shchurov. The project was prepared by scientists of the Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management – Olena Filonenko, Pavlo Vasyliev and Andrii Koniuk.

Representatives of DTEK Oil&Gas, regional state administrations, teachers, students and guests gathered for the opening of DTEK Alley. The symbolic ribbon was cut by the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration Oleh Syniehubov, the CEO of DTEK Oil&Gas, a member of the Supervisory Board of the University Ihor Shchurov and the rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Volodymyr Onyshchenko. Among the first visitors to the new location were the People's Deputy of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kasai, the Head of the Supervisory Board of the University Vitalii Vitryk, the Deputy Chairman of the Poltava Regional State Administration Yevhen Hrekov, the authors of the project, and scientists.

According to Igor Shchurov, CEO of DTEK Oil&Gas, the company greatly appreciates cooperation with the university: "We have a long, open and friendly partnership with Poltava Polytechnic. I hope that professors, students and common Poltava residents and guests of the town will be happy to come here. Innovation and openness are the basic principles of DTEK's oil and gas business. These principles are the main idea of the location."

DTEK Oil&Gas, as a socially responsible business, systematically invests in the innovative development of education, research and improving the quality of educational services. The creation of a recreational area near the university campus on the occasion of the company's 10th anniversary was another step in this direction. The project under the slogan "Charge yourself with the energy of knowledge!" implemented on the principle of public-private partnership. DTEK Oil&Gas invested 2.5 million UAH and 1 million UAH was co-financed by the university.

"In the life of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" indeed a historic event has occurred – our common dream to create a modern innovation space, which is combined with more than two hundred years of educational traditions of the institution, has been realized!

Preparing for its anniversary, the long-time strategic partner has decided to make a memorable gift for our university.

The dream has come true! The project of up-to-date space has been implemented. It harmoniously fits into the historical part of the yard of our university, and is innovative and multifunctional!

The innovative location will be used as an open-air concert hall for events, classes, student parties, and leisure of Poltava residents. The area is easily adapted for various high-level mass events – from business to entertainment with the possibility of arranging temporary facilities.

It is planned to open a recreation area for Poltava residents. We have already purchased hoverboards, electric scooters, and will soon install special equipment for extreme sports.

DTEK Oil&Gas is an innovative leader that invests in the development of the university, in particular in an excellent material and technical and laboratory base.

It is clear for business – to invest in a university – to invest in the future. Life is dynamic, technology is changing rapidly, and the oil and gas sector is the most technological sector in the region, that is why, both sides are interested in preparing high-qualified professionals who will have the latest knowledge, not need a re-education and will immediately be able to work effectively in new jobs.

We are perfectly implementing in practice a well-known formula of success, which consists in the synergetic effect of effective interaction of education, science, business and authority!" – commented the initiator of the project, rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

The alley starts with LED lights, which are equipped with solar panels and work as charging stations for gadgets, and is topped with a metal decorative composition with the stylization of the DTEK logo. Then it turns into a multifunctional area, the coating of which forms square modules that are comfortable for human perception. The area is easily adapted for various mass events – from business to entertainment, and interesting leisure. Also in the area it is possible to arrange temporary facilities. The recreation area harmoniously combines places to relax, lawns, flower beds and sunny trees. The total area of modern space is over 3000 m².

The open location that evening became the venue for a student open-air party.

During the grand opening of DTEK Oil&Gas Alley, Poltava Polytechnic joined a trilateral Memorandum with the corporate university for the DTEK group of companies – Academy DTEK and became a new resident of DTEK TechnoHub.

It will be recalled that at the end of 2020, DTEK Oil&Gas and Poltava Polytechnic identified new areas of cooperation for the next five years, and in March 2021, scientists and business representatives discussed the main aspects of safe working conditions in the oil and gas sector.
