On March 30, 2022, the teaching staff and students of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management of the Institute of Oil and Gas of Poltava Polytechnic took part in the training webinar "Work of the enterprise ecologist in wartime-2022", initiated by the Professional Association of Ecologists of Ukraine (PAEU). "ECOBUSINESS. Ecology of the enterprise". Despite the difficult circumstances in which our country is now, Poltava Polytechnic continues the educational process and cooperation with partners.
Students majoring in "101 Ecology" and "183 Environmental Protection Technologies" have undergone practical training on the latest legislative changes in the field of environmental protection and the work of ecologists in enterprises under martial law.
The following issues were addressed in the webinar program:
- Permitting activities under martial law: exemption from EA (Environmental Assessment) and suspension of permitting bodies’ work;
- Protection of guarantees of subjects of reporting under martial law;
- Protection of information registers during the war;
- Implementation of control measures under martial law;
- The activities of the Eco-Staff and its importance in the further restoration of Ukraine.
Among the speakers was Liudmyla Khomich – Vice President of the PAEU (Association of Ecologists of Ukraine), lawyer, author of the journal "ECOBUSINESS. Ecology of the enterprise" and a representative of the Poltava Petroleum Company – stakeholder of our specialties. All participants could ask questions to the experts present.
The head of the department, Professor Olena Stepova stressed the importance of such an event for future specialist-ecologists, especially in terms of their practical, relevant training.
It should be recalled that earlier Polytechnic scientists underwent training in effective eco-management at the Jean Monnet International Winter School.
