The cutting-edge sports facilities of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” regularly serve as a large-scale venue for a number of sports and fitness events.
On 17-18 May, 2024, the top-of-the-line facilities of Poltava Polytechnic hosted a complex sports competition among the employees of DTEK Oil&Gas, a long-term strategic partner of the university. Experienced and young professionals competed for the championship and honorary sports awards, demonstrating excellent physical fitness, significant personal achievements and will to win in volleyball, table tennis, chess, mini-football and sports billiards.
The competitions were held at the sports base of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” with the support of Rector, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine, Head of the Sports Student Union of Ukraine in the Poltava Region and the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava Region, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the initiative of DTEK Oil&Gas CEO Ihor Shchurov, who fully supports the promotion of a healthy lifestyle as well as sports and physical activities among the company’s employees..
The organisers traditionally started the tournament opening ceremony with a tribute to the national blue and yellow flag and a minute’s silence.
The sports event was opened and the participants were greeted by the honoured guests – Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine, Head of the Sports Student Union of Ukraine in the Poltava Region and the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava Region, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko; DTEK Oil & Gas CEO Ihor Shchurov; Dean of Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko; and the Head of Sports Club of Poltava Polytechnic, Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine in Military and Sports All-Around Nikita Solovei, who wished them iron endurance and sports inspiration, deep faith in themselves and their own strength, new personal and sports victories.

Glory to Ukraine!” – greeted the participants of the competition the Head of Poltava Polytechnic, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
In his welcoming speech, DTEK Oil&Gas CEO Ihor Shchurov also thanked the team of Yuri Kondratyuk National University for a number of interesting educational, scientific, professional and sporting events, expressing his admiration for the dynamic development of the multidisciplinary classical university in the face of a full-scale invasion and the activity of the powerful educational institution at the national and international levels.
For two days, the participants competed in volleyball, table tennis, chess, mini-football and sports billiards tournaments, demonstrating excellent physical fitness, significant personal achievements and a strong desire to win.
The performances and results of the athletes were assessed by members of a highly qualified panel of judges. The main judges of the competition were:
- Volleyball – Andrian Ostapov, Senior Teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, coach of the university’s volleyball team;
- Table tennis – Andrii Chermenskyi, teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, Master of Sports of Ukraine in table tennis, coach of the university’s table tennis team;
- Chess – Hryhorii Shcherbov, President of Poltava Regional Chess Federation;
- Billiards – Serhii Kropyvnytskyi, coach of the university’s billiards team;
- Mini-football – Oleksii Vorobiov, Senior Teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, coach of the university’s football team.
Following the results of the intense tournament days, the winners in each sport were determined and awarded with honorary prizes.
It should be recalled that Contemporary Choreography Studio of Poltava Polytechnic “DWIZH” invites students to the casting.
Recently, the Open Workout Tournament was held at Polytechnic premises, the defenders won the charity Ukrainian Billiards Championship among the university academic staff, and students and graduates of the university won the European Para Swimming Championship.
