The ESFRI Forum, which works at the forefront of European and global scientific policy, is deeply shocked and impressed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and strongly condemns any military aggression against a sovereign, independent country and its citizens.
The Forum called on the research infrastructures and funding organizations, within the legal framework, to assist the Ukrainian scientific community, to suspend any current and planned links with entities located in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
"This devastating crisis of extraordinary proportions will have serious consequences for society. The ESFRI team is determined to pay maximum attention to current events, as the research community must remain a space where human dignity, equality, solidarity, objectivity and honesty are respected, and freedom and justice are guaranteed to each of its members" – says the statement.
The ESFRI Forum stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian research community and seeks to support Ukrainian researchers and the research community t within their capabilities. The Forum called for peace, mutual understanding and tolerance.
It should be recalled that Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet appealed to the Ministers of Education of the Council of the European Union.
