During September 13-16, 2022, the largest event for higher education institutions took place in the capital of Catalonia, the participants of which were the most powerful universities, the most famous educational publishing houses and recruiting companies from Europe, Canada, Asia, the United States of America and Australia.
This year's EAIE 2022 conference-exhibition was the first major live meeting of representatives of the international higher education sector in Europe since the beginning of the pandemic. More than 6,000 participants from around the world gathered in Barcelona, many of whom have continued to collaborate virtually over the past two years.
For professionals from the field of higher education in Europe and other countries of the world, the EAIE 2022 conference-exhibition is an opportunity to share their experience and conclusions accumulated through personal and professional crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the program was clearly focused on the future: this year's topic "The Future in Full Color" stimulated a discussion about how higher education will develop and how to define the role of international education in overcoming the challenges of an increasingly globalized world.
For the first time, in the very center of the exhibition hall, a stand of higher education institutions of Ukraine was presented among the exhibitors. The honor of presenting the high level of the Ukrainian higher education system fell to several leading Ukrainian universities, including the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", which presented long-term educational traditions, powerful scientific schools, innovative and scientific-educational activities as one of the scientific and educational centers of the Poltava region and Ukraine.
On the opening day of the exhibition, the stand of higher education institutions of Ukraine was visited by the Minister of Education of Catalonia and the Consul General of Ukraine in Barcelona Artem Vorobiov.
Poltava Polytechnic was represented at the international educational exhibition by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages Halyna Talovyria, who noted the scale and significance of the international educational event.
"Ukraine was represented at the event by a delegation of educators, which included representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, and higher education institutions. Attending large-scale international events of this level is a tremendous experience for any teacher, scientist, researcher, a unique opportunity to borrow the best experience of the leading countries of the world, exchange business contacts with representatives of the European academic community, establish fruitful professional communication and effective scientific-educational cooperation with foreign partner universities.
Undoubtedly, Poltava Polytechnic as one of the best classical universities of the European level has a lot to share, and the excellent example of the university cooperation with the best educational institutions and business brands can be taken as a model. I express my sincere gratitude to the administration and personally to the rector of the university, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, for the trust and honor to represent our university at the world level," – commented the scientist.
Ukrainian higher education won the EAIE 2022 award in the nomination "Vision and Leadership" from the European Association for International Education (EAIE).
"This is the first time in history that the winner of the EAIE 2022 award for vision and leadership was not a separate organization, but Ukrainian higher education as a whole. And we are very proud to have received such a high appreciation of our joint efforts, which Ukraine, its universities, and educational organizations are making in order to continue providing quality educational services, despite all the difficulties," – said the Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova.
This award recognizes inspiring individuals or organizations for their outstanding achievements in demonstrating and developing strategies that create new ways of thinking and new opportunities in the field of international higher education.
With this award, EAIE aimed to recognize and estimate the outstanding fortitude and resilience demonstrated by Ukrainian higher education institutions during the russian invasion and the conflict that continues to take lives in Ukraine every day. Ukrainian universities and other participants in the educational sector have come together to continue providing higher education to Ukrainians in the face of war, as well as humanitarian support to their communities and maintaining ties with the international community through partnerships and mobility programs. EAIE awarded Ukrainian universities for their joint efforts despite the difficulties.
