On February 4, the grand opening of the ISKA Poltava Kickboxing Cup “TATAMI STYLE IN POLTAVA” was held at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. The competitions were held with the support of the rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, the head of the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava Region, Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the head of the ISKA Kickboxing Federation in Poltava Mykhailo Korobov.
8 teams from different cities of Ukraine took part in the competition:
- Sports club “Orel”, Poltava – coach Pavlo Korobov;
- Sports club “School of Champions”, Myrhorod district – coach Vitalii Alieksieiev;
- Sports club “Armada”, Kharkiv – coach Ruslan Valuiskyi;
- Center for special training “SKIF”, Poltava – coach Serhii Chepizhnyi;
- Sports club “Vladibor”, Kharkiv – coach Andrii Plokhykh;
- Martial Arts Club of Ukraine “Hrydba”, Poltava – Oleh Chernetskyi;
- Sports club “Bulat”, Kharkiv region, Krasnohrad – coaches Serhii Dzhumailo and Danylo Huliaiev;
- Sports club “Pitbull”, Kharkiv – coach Serhii Ozhereliev.
“Today, the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is welcoming the participants of the ISKA Poltava Open Kickboxing Cup – about 100 athletes from 5 to 18 years old, who are united by such a sport as taekwondo and a great will for victory. I convey congratulatory words on behalf of the rector of the university, the head of the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava Region and the Sports Student Union of the Poltava Region Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko, wishing everyone good health, peace and victory. These are the first sports competitions at the university’s sports base in 2023.

Everyone has their own front, and the front for athletes is participation and victory in sports competitions, popularization of physical culture and sports, as well as a healthy lifestyle. Glory to Ukraine!” – greeted the athletes the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko.
The ceremonial opening of the ISKA Poltava Kickboxing Cup “TATAMI STYLE IN POLTAVA” began with the eyes on the national flag of Ukraine raising and a minute’s silence in honour of compatriots who died as a result of the full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine.
ISKA Poltava Open Kickboxing Cup was held in 4 categories: light contact, semi contact; forms – Korean style, freestyle.
Students of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” also took part in the competition, in particular Pavlo Korobov – a student of group 103-FS of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, won 5 first places in the nominations light contact, semi contact in the forms of Korean style, freestyle.
According to the results of the competition, the winners were:
- I place – the team of SC “Bulat” from the city of Krasnohrad, Kharkiv region;
- II place – the team of SC “Orel”, city of Poltava;
- III place – the team of CST “SKIF”, city of Poltava.
Last year, the All-Ukrainian taekwondo tournament “We are Ukraine!” was held before the International Student Day.
