On March 2, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet met with the Italian Minister of University and Research Maria Cristina Messa.
"I appealed to the Minister with a request to officially condemn in her speeches and statements the harsh actions of the Russian Federation and sever all relations with the aggressor country. We highly appreciate Italy's support in implementing new educational and scientific projects and hope to continue constructive bilateral cooperation in education and science. Ukraine is a European country and is pursuing a clear course towards full membership in the EU. I sincerely thank you for your support and I am confident that very soon the Ukrainian flag will fly among the flags of the EU," – said Serhii Shkarlet.
The Minister of University and Research of Italy expressed her unquestioning support for Ukraine personally and from the entire Italian people, as well as said that several rhetoric had already been prepared, in particular in the field of information policy to counter Russian aggression and a complete cessation of relations in education and science.
The Minister of University and Research of Italy and the Association of Rectors of Italian Public and Private Universities (CRUI) spoke in support of students and lecturers suffering from the war in Ukraine. They are ready to support Ukrainian students and the academic community, and funds have already been allocated for this purpose. The Minister stressed that technology transfer, international research and educational projects should be exclusively a platform for creating new communications and maintaining peace.
It should be recalled that the Minister of Education of the Republic of Poland supports Ukraine.
