On March 20, 2023, an interesting scientific and educational event took place on the basis of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” within the framework of the current agreements on fruitful cooperation with stakeholders – a graduate of the “Finance, Banking and Insurance” specialty, economist of the compliance department of JSC “Poltava-bank” Tetiana Berezhetska visited the student youth to share practical experience and her own professional development in the field of financial and banking activities. At the initiative of scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the Poltava Polytechnic, the speaker conducted an offline lecture class “Compliance in the bank. Compliance risk management” for students of the second (master’s) level of higher education of the educational programs “Finance, Banking and Insurance”, “Management of Financial and Economic Security” and “Accounting and Taxation” of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law.
According to Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Yehorycheva, motivational meetings, scientific and educational events with the participation of stakeholders, useful practical events from professionals in the financial sphere as well as the practically oriented nature of scientific and educational events organized and conducted by the university with the participation of experienced practitioners will best demonstrate to graduates of financial specialties their broad prospects and competitiveness in the modern labour market. After all, the combination of theoretical knowledge with the study of practical experience is a necessary condition for the educational training of highly qualified specialists, and the example of the university’s scientific-educational partnership with stakeholders as well as well-known business brands can confidently serve as a useful practical case for leading higher education institutions in our country.
The topic of the open lecture is dictated by modern professional challenges for future graduates at their first workplace, the need to constantly improve one’s own qualifications and exchange already acquired practical experience. During the conversation with the speaker, master’s students deepened their own knowledge of the professional academic disciplines “Banking Management” as well as “Organization and Techniques of Audit and Tax Control”.
Tetiana Berezhetska explained in detail to the listeners the essence and meaning of the new field of activity for domestic banks – compliance, describing its organizational structure and the tasks of the compliance department, in which the Polytechnic graduate currently works. The lecturer paid considerable attention to discussion of the types and causes of compliance risks, which are understood as the probability of losses/sanctions or loss of reputation due to the bank’s failure to comply with the requirements of legislation, market standards, rules of fair competition, rules of corporate ethics, internal bank documents, as well as the occurrence of a conflict of interests. Using tangible examples, the professional explained to the listeners effective mechanisms for identifying and minimizing such risks.
Students actively asked questions, being interested in useful financial cases, conditions of internship, employment in this banking institution. The lecturers of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” joined the active discussion, noted the wide range of comfortable conditions created by the university for fruitful professional communication, scientific, educational and personal growth of modern graduates.

At the end of the lecture, the participants had a question-and-answer session. In general, an informative meeting of master’s students with a practical specialist of JSC “Poltava-bank” took place in a relaxed atmosphere of professional interest.
It should be recalled that earlier the marketing director of the Debit Plus company gave a lecture to students about the features of automating financial reporting, future marketers discussed strategies for creating and promoting brands, future managers got acquainted with the work of the Interregional Administration of the NACS in Poltava and Kirovohrad regions, future specialists got acquainted with the work of the Service Center taxpayers of the State Tax Inspectorate in the city of Poltava, and law students got acquainted with the work of the Poltava District Office of the Main Office of the National Police in the Poltava Region.
Recently, a leading expert in the field of energy Yevhen Palienka gave a lecture on the economic factors of the modern oil and gas production business, future professionals got acquainted with the activities of the Main Department of the State Tax Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region, a Polytechnic student learned business management skills under the international exchange program at the Pomeranian Academy, the head of the Poltava RMA met with Polytechnic students and discussed the Year of Invincibility, law enforcement officers conducted a training session dedicated to countering the most common gender stereotypes.
