Legal Clinic operates in Poltava Polytechnic

A Legal Clinic operates within the precincts of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law of Poltava Polytechnic. Law students master the necessary practical skills in their specialty, and citizens and organizations are provided with free legal assistance in the protection of human rights and freedoms as well as organizations in all branches of law in accordance with current legislation of Ukraine.

Legal Clinic operates in Poltava Polytechnic

On the basis of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" there is a Legal Clinic created for educational and social purposes. As a basis for practical training and internship of students majoring in "Law", specialty provides an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in practice without interruption from training. The social goal is to provide free legal assistance and legal information to low-income segments of the population. The Legal Clinic raises the level of legal culture of citizens and helps to gain access to legal services.

The Legal Clinic is headed by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law, Candidate of Law (in 2019 he defended his dissertation (Atypical (auxiliary) forms of direct democracy: theory and constitutional regulation), lawyer Mykhailo Mykhailov, who during 2014-2021 worked in the judicial system as an assistant judge, and since August 2021 has been practicing law.

"The Legal Clinic of Poltava Polytechnic creates wide opportunities for student youth to acquire skills of practical activity in the specialty, to undergo educational and industrial practice, to conduct educational events on legal education of the population. The team of lawyers-professionals of the Clinic promotes a constructive dialogue with practitioners of judicial and law enforcement agencies as well as local self-governments bodies on their activities, creation of an effective mechanism for exchanging information between the public, media and legal clinic, which will respond promptly to the practical needs of citizens.

Law students will provide free legal assistance on the protection of human rights and freedoms as well as organizations in all branches of law in accordance with current legislation of Ukraine, work with legal documents and databases, prepare and disseminate publications for the population on topical public legal issues, establish cooperation with employees of state and non-state bodies and organizations", – says Inna Kulchii, Candidate of Sciences in Public Governance, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law.

On the basis of the Legal Clinic, scientific and practical conferences, seminars, trainings on topical legal issues will also be held, systematize and analyze the judicial practice of Ukraine, decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, resolve legal issues in law enforcement agencies, public authorities and local self-governments.

Legal assistance is provided by consultants of the Legal Clinic with the help of academic staff of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law. Personal data of citizens (name, address, etc.) are confidential and are not subject to disclosure or dissemination without their consent.

Earlier, scientists and community representatives considered the legal aspects of environmental protection, Polytechnic students got acquainted with the work of the Poltava Regional Council, and a delegation of student self-government of the Polytechnic visited the Parliament.
