"Media Education on Fire: New Challenges": educators, journalists are invited to an online discussion by the Academy of Ukrainian Press

The Academy of Ukrainian Press together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine invites you to an online discussion "Media Education on Fire: new challenges – new resources or How to destroy russian propaganda". Speakers and participants will debunk propagandistic fakes, manipulations and information leaks, improve skills to protect themselves from potentially harmful information.

On February 10, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. the Academy of Ukrainian Press together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine invites you to the online discussion "Media Education on Fire: new challenges – new resources or How to destroy russian propaganda".

Among the speakers of the event are:

  • Gillian McCormack, director of Internews in Ukraine;
  • Nataliia Lyhachova, editor-in-chief of the "Detector Media" publication group;
  • Andrii Kulakov, program director of "Internews-Ukraine";
  • Raisa Yevtushenko, chief specialist of the Directorate of preschool, school, out-of-school and inclusive education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
  • Oksana Volosheniuk, manager of media education programs at the Academy of Ukrainian Press.
  • Vadym Miskyi, program director of the "Detector Media", Ukrainian public figure, media and advocacy specialist.

The online discussion will be of interest to: educators who are aware of the vital necessity of media education; journalistic community; public sector.

We will talk about:

  • resources to help teachers. Special focus "What has changed in media education in wartime conditions";
  • debunking propagandistic fakes, manipulations and misrepresentations by russians regarding the war in Ukraine;
  • exposure of information manipulation;
  • decoding of the information and psychological operations in the media;
  • ability to protect yourself from potentially harmful information.
