On the second day of the VI International Industry Forum “Production. Well Stimulation. Well Workover” the students and teachers of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Poltava Oil and Gas College could test their professional competence once again.
A few years in a row, the effectiveness of students’ education in oil and gas specializations is evaluated by the Newfolk Industry Rating. This is an online test developed by the Newfolk Oil and Gas Consulting Center (OGCC) under the editorship of the Director General of NTP Burova Tekhnika LLC, Honored Professor and a member of the Supervisory Board of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, PhD in Engineering Vitalii Vitryk.
“The idea of creating the rating appeared three years ago. Usually, when young specialists arrive at a company, they are asked questions to help the administration check the level of their competence. That is why the tests for the rating were not compiled by teachers (according to the study program at university), but by specialists–the heads of departments of service and production companies, the leading engineers, mechanics. These questions concern geology, drilling muds, oil and gas project management. There are two more parts, General Education, which includes mathematical, physical and chemical problems, and the History of Oil and Gas Production in Ukraine. Seeing the results of the rating, we can say that the people who achieved success in oil and gas know the history very well, so this direction is also important,” the Director General of Newfolk OGCC Andrii Zakrevskyi commented and added on the award for those who showed the best results in the test, “This time we chose three winners. Usually we invite them to industry conferences, but, taking into account the circumstances, we offer another concept; the students will be able to choose an advisor or a representative of any oil and gas company, and Newfolk will organize them a business breakfast.”
According to the results of the Newfolk Industry Rating, the highest score was achieved by Oleksandr Petrenko, a student of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Bohdan Zaitsev and Ivan Ivanina, students of Poltava Oil and Gas College of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College Liubov Shumska added, that the test results are an indicator for both the employers and the teachers, in the first place: “The Newfolk Industry Rating is held at the university for the fourth time in a row. It is an indicator of our students’ readiness to further professional activity, as it has been developed with the needs of the leading companies in mind. Our teachers passed the test before the students to see their level of professional training. This is a kind of exam for professional competence. As of now, all the teachers of Poltava Oil and Gas College and the teachers of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic have passed this test. When we test students, we help teachers see what should be improved. When we test graduates, we get the level of the work we’ve done. The data of the tests are analyzed to find out which of the topics are the strongest in our educational programs, and what should be corrected. Besides performing the study plan, the students have to meet the requirements of the leading industry companies where they will work.”
Each participant of the testing received a certificate confirming their rating according to the methodology of Newfolk OGCC. The development of such online services contributes to the high-quality training of specialists and brings the oil and gas industry of Ukraine to the world quality standards.
