On 23-25 May, 2024, at the state-of-the-art facilities of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, the academic staff of the Department of Choreography and Dance Sports held the First All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Tendencies and Prospects of Choreographic Art Development in the Context of Cultural and Educational Processes”.
The Department of Choreography and Dance Sports of the National University on Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, the Department of Choreography and Art History of the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture, the Faculty of Choreographic Art of the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, and the Department of Choreography of the H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University also co-organised the large-scale scientific and educational event.
Due to the imposition of martial law and active hostilities on the territory of our country, the scientific event was held in a mixed format, which did not prevent the establishment of a constructive dialogue and effective professional communication between representatives of the academic community of leading Ukrainian universities and professional practitioners, who discussed the main trends and prospects for the development of choreographic art, presented cases from the experience of choreographic groups from different regions of our country, analysed the basis for the formation of conflict.

About 70 academic staff, students and postgraduate students from leading Ukrainian universities took part in the four breakout sessions, sharing their own experience in the development of contemporary dance.
The final chord of the conference was the All-Ukrainian Festival of Choreographic Art “Poltava Polytechnic Dance Fest”, which took place on 25 May, 2024 on the state-of-the-art stage of the Centre for Culture and Student Creativity of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
Representatives of dance groups from different regions of Ukraine took part in the dance nominations of the festival. The interesting creative atmosphere was created by the Director of the Centre for Culture and Student Creativity of Poltava Polytechnic, Candidate of Social Communications, Associate Professor Hlib Kudriashov.
The dancers’ performances were judged by a highly qualified panel of judges: Petro Horhol, Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Honoured Sports Dance Worker of Ukraine, International Judge of the World Dance Council, Head of the Department of Choreography and Dance Sports of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Oleksandr Herashchenko, winner of the All-Ukrainian TV project “Tantsiuiut vsi 3 (Dance All - 3)”, judge of national and international dance competitions, Master of Choreography; Olha Hniedova, Head of the Poltava Regional Branch of the National Dance Union of Ukraine, Master of Choreography, Artistic Director of the “Svitanok”Folk Dance Ensemble and the “Kapriz” Dance Studio, Olena Kurdupova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Choreographic Arts at the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, Senior Teacher at the Department of Folk Dance, winner of international competitions; Victoriia Sydorenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Choreography at the Hryhorii Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, winner of national and international contemporary dance competitions, member of the National Dance Union of Ukraine, head of the “Sharm” School of Contemporary Sports Dance.
The winners and participants of the festival were awarded with diplomas, medals and cups, and the audience received positive emotions from communicating with contemporary choreographic art.
The final session of the conference was held at the end of the festival. It should be recalled that the Centre of Choreographic Art was opened at Poltava Polytechnic, where the first-year students of speciality 024 Choreography made their debut and were iniciated.
Recently, the second All-Ukrainian sports dance competition “Rector’s Cup of Poltava Polytechnic” took place at our university, artistic teams of Poltava Polytechnic performed at the regional competition and review “Where is the harmony in the family”, teachers and choreography students discussed successful cases of the choreography team leader’s activity on the example of a children’s dance ensemble, students-choreographers had an open class on the methodology of teaching classical dance, university teachers and students attended a guest lecture on the choreographer’s style of work in technical and aesthetic sports, future choreographers attended a master class in Brazilian samba from a famous sports dance mentor Olena Rahulina, and the winner of “Tantsiuiut vsi 3 (Dance All - 3)” Oleksandr Herashchenko held a master class in modern dance for students-choreographers of Polytechnic.
Earlier, Poltava Polytechnic started cooperation with Kharkiv State Academy of Culture.
