Anna Pavelieva, a representative of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation, and the university’s International Relations Coordinator, has earned the high confidence of the European academic community for the fourth consecutive time. During the annual General Assembly Meeting, she was re-elected to the position of External Communication Coordinator of the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc).
The European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) is a leading European federation of national associations of early-career researchers (ECRs) from European countries, whose mission is to advocate for the rights and improve the working conditions of researchers in the early stages of their careers. The organisation's key vision is to create a fair and sustainable research culture where young researchers are treated with respect and have access to stable career pathways. Since its establishment in 2002, Eurodoc has consistently advocated for the recognition of doctoral candidates and junior researchers as full-fledged professionals. This includes providing them with employment contracts, social security, and decent working conditions, so that an academic career is open to talented researchers regardless of their socio-economic background. Amidst global challenges and threats to democracy, Eurodoc also actively defends academic freedom, emphasising the inextricable link between higher education and the democratic development of society. Today, the federation unites national associations from 26 European countries, serving as a powerful voice for young researchers at the European level.
Being re-elected to such a responsible position for the fourth consecutive year is an undeniable testament to the recognition of the professionalism, high efficiency, and strategic vision of the Poltava Polytechnic representative. This result is significant for strengthening the voice and promoting the interests of Ukrainian science on the international stage during these challenging times.
The organisation's annual report, presented at the General Assembly Meeting, highlighted significant progress in external communications for the 2024/2025 term. A new media strategy was developed by Eurodoc’s Board and implemented, which included the publication of 14 Eurodoc newsletters that became a vital tool for informing partners. These efforts led to impressive growth on social media: the number of followers on Eurodoc's LinkedIn page grew by 21.87%, reaching over 5,000, and the total number of post impressions exceeded 81,000. Additionally, two powerful outreach campaigns were carried out: the “ECR Night”, where 22 early career researchers presented their work, and a project of particular significance for Ukraine, the “Voices of Ukrainian Scientists” campaign, which featured over 20 interviews with Ukrainian researchers about their work amidst the full-scale war.
“I am sincerely grateful to the Eurodoc’s national associations for their unwavering trust and support”, – commented Anna Pavelieva, – “ I would also like to extend a special thanks to my colleagues, the members of the Eurodoc Board, and especially our President, Pil Maria Saugmann, for their incredible teamwork and leadership. Working for the community of early-career researchers in Europe is a great responsibility and an honour. Over the past year, we have not only strengthened the organisation's communication standing but also implemented projects with a real impact. In particular, as a Ukrainian, it was a matter of honour for me to contribute to the “Voices of Ukrainian Scientists” campaign to give a platform to our talented and resilient colleagues. These achievements are the result of coordinated teamwork, and I also want to personally thank my communication team: Webmaster Khrystyna Zub (Lviv Polytechnic National University) and Newsletter Officer Viktoriia Lemeshchenko-Lagoda (Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University) for their invaluable contribution. There is still much work to be done, and I am inspired to continue advocating for the interests of researchers and strengthening the voice of Ukraine in the European research area”.

Anna Pavelieva also expressed special gratitude to the Eurodoc Board and its President, Pil Maria Saugmann, for their unwavering and consistent support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian academic community from the first days of the full-scale invasion. This support is demonstrated not only through statements but also through concrete actions that give Ukraine a powerful voice on the European stage. A testament to this deep trust and solidarity was the high honour bestowed upon the Poltava Polytechnic representative, authoring two key articles for the official Eurodoc website. The articles, “Why Student Exchanges are Crucial for Ukraine's Future” and “Standing with Ukraine means standing with a free democratic world”, allowed for conveying the realities, challenges, and resilience of Ukrainian science to all of Europe. Providing such a vital platform to highlight Ukrainian issues is a clear affirmation of the unwavering position of Eurodoc and its leaders in supporting Ukraine's fight for freedom and democratic values.
The successful activities of Anna Pavelieva on the international stage not only strengthen the reputation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” as a powerful educational and research centre but also open up new opportunities for the university's young scientists to integrate into the European research community.
