Polytechnic Scientists Present Successful Cases at the First All-Ukrainian Forum for Young Scientists

On September 29, the First All-Ukrainian Forum for Young Scientists, organized by the Young Scientists Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, was held. More than half a thousand participants from all around Ukraine worked on creating the national network of young scientists boards, as well as providing support and promotion to the young scientists of Ukraine.

Due to the lockdown and the complicated epidemic situation, the All-Ukrainian Forum for Young Scientists took place online on Microsoft Teams with personal invitations. The representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of Ukraine, the Young Scientists Board of MES of Ukraine, the Young Scientists Boards from different cities, higher education institutions and scientific establishments, and young scientists interested in creating the Young Scientists Boards in the institutions they represented.

The Head of the Young Scientists Board of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, PhD in Engineering, member of the Presidium of the Young Scientists Board of the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine and MES of Ukraine, winner of the Award of the President of Ukraine for Young Scientists in 2018 Kseniia Chychulina delivered a presentation called “Successful experience of the Young Scientists Board of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic””, and shared the successful cases of the university scientists’ activity.

The participants of the forum were greeted by the Head of the Committee of Education, Science and Innovations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Serhii Babak and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Ihor Harbaruk. They wished fruitful work during the forum to the participants and expressed their readiness to support any initiatives of the scientific elite representatives of our county at the legislative level.

“Today’s forum is a great chance possibility for communication between scientists, for defining the main goals of creating the Young Scientists Boards, as well as decent conditions for effective development of young Ukrainian science. Practical experience and promotions for the new generations are a part of the activity of our Young Scientists Board. The young scientists of our country will start working on the common resolution to creating favorable conditions for young scientists’ activity around our county at this forum,” the Head of the Young Scientists Board of the MES of Ukraine Olesia Vashchuk emphasized.

According to the Deputy Head of the National Agency of Higher Education Quality Assurance Nataliia Stukalo, the two leading trends for the young scientists of Ukraine are still academic honesty and internationalization. Young scientists have extended the borders of their research, strengthening the cooperation with many European institutions, in particular, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc). The speaker also encouraged the scientists to join the cooperation more active for improving the study programs, used for training specialists at higher education institutions.

The participants of the forum discussed the topics concerning the process of forming the young scientists boards, their goals and the problems of working within them. They also defined on of the main goals of the forum to be creating a platform for building connections with young scientists and a constructive dialogue between the young scientists boards and the government.

“Over the last few years, the Young Scientists Boar of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” have held a wide range of events for talented youth, such as round tables, seminars, forums etc. We have participated in various grant projects and received scholarships from the government of Ukraine. Last year, the Young Scientists Board participated in all-Ukrainian and international scientific and practical conferences and exhibitions in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, the UK, the USA,” Kseniia Chychulina said.

In conclusion, the participants of the first All-Ukrainian Forum for Young Scientists resolved several problems, in particular, they agreed on the coordination of efforts to form a legal status of a young scientist in Ukraine according to the European standards and the best world standards, the promotion science and education, the contribution to integration of business, science and government etc. The scientists received certificates confirming their participation in the event.
