“Now the modern educational system faces serious challenges; the functions and the form of education are changing, internal and external competition is forming, the role of the teacher and the requirements of the society and business for the education are changing. Besides, society requires people able to self-develop, and the employers value mostly the employees able to come up with innovative ideas and work in team to bring them to life. All this makes us reconsider the professional training of specialists, the development of new educational concepts, the process of making the contents, the form and the methods of education meet the requirements and needs of today, the need of applying innovative technologies in education, creating effective conditions for professional and personal development of a successful specialist.
“In the modern world, there is a tendency to quickly update knowledge. That’s why the process of specialists’ training requires shifting the emphasis from knowledge accumulation to forming the professional self-development skills. New technologies have not only radically changed the people’s way of life but also influenced the education field. This resulted in the rapid development of online education. Thus, of urgent necessity are the implementation of innovative technologies and teaching methods with the application of informational and communication technologies,” Volodymyr Onyshchenko noticed.
The co-speaker, Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Liubov Shumska clarified the peculiarities of training specialists today.
“As of today, the high-quality training of oil and gas specialists can only be achieved through comprehensive cooperation of all the interested people, stakeholders, in particular with knowledge exchange between the academic environment of higher education institutions and the practicing business, as well as with investments of the latter into innovative science which is realized at the university. In education, stakeholders are such groups or organizations whose input is the basis for ensuring high-quality education of specialists. University’s goal, as a stakeholder company, is to satisfy all the stakeholders, both internal and external,” Liubov Shumska said. “The specifics of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic’s activity allows us to consider it as a powerful stakeholder company, a system consisting of many stakeholder groups. Stakeholders of both the university and the college include internal, such as students and teachers, and external ones, that is companies, employers and society as a whole. The efficiency of the cooperation between the university and the stakeholders is increasing considerably when business partners switch from the position of outside observers and only consumers of educational services to the position of interested participants in educational and innovative processes. That contributes to students mastering a set of professional competencies. It is important that employers, together with the university and the college, asses the quality of potential employees’ training at the stage of training and can make adjustments to it,” Liubov Shumska added.
The moderator of the event, Andrii Zakrevskyi, Director General of Newfolk OGCC, emphasized the effective cooperation with Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic, “We are proud of our cooperation with Poltava Polytechnic. You are the best and the quickest. This is the situation when a state higher education institution can give a ‘head start’ to the private ones, which is extremely rare. Personally, I would like to say that working with the university has changed my attitude towards scientists; I saw that they are very modern and practical people who, on the one hand, understand the market, and on the other hand, have a big heart, support children of different society ranges and make them modern professionals.”
For a few years in a row, the efficiency of oil and gas students’ education has been evaluated with Newfolk’s Industry Rating Tests. As of today, more than 500 students and 30 teachers have been tested. The participants of this year’s testing were the Bachelor’s, Master’s students and graduates of Education and Research Institute of Oil and Gas and of Poltava Oil and Gas College of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic.
Taking into account the growing scale of online education in the educational system of Ukraine, its further implementation depends on the joined activity of key stakeholders. During the lockdown, external stakeholders took active part in the online education and even organized practical classes during which university and college students were able to get familiar with the activity, technologies and equipment of leading oil and gas companies, learn and analyze the problems influencing the professional solutions of production tasks.
National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” as a stakeholder company realizes its mission in the interests of all the stakeholders, improving the efficiency of mutual cooperation and its own competitiveness in today’s educational market. To meet the public needs and fulfill its purpose, the university is always open for dialogue, information exchange and interaction with internal and external stakeholder.
