Polish can be included in the list of NMT subjects

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is considering the possibility of including the Polish language in the list of educational subjects, which are used for the ZNO/NMT. This was discussed during a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, unification with the Poles is a key to sustainable development and security, as well as education and language are the main tools with which such unification begins.

"We have to proceed with concrete actions in order to integrate into European space. The first step is to learn the languages of neighboring countries. And this step should be mutual: the Poles are ready to include Ukrainian as a foreign language in the list of educational subjects. At the same time, the Ukrainian party should develop a strategy for passing exams in the Polish language. And if for this it is needed to make changes to the legislation, it is necessary to start this process today," – noted the Deputy Prime Minister.

Currently, for Polish citizens, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is working on an algorithm for the recognition and enrollment of Egzamin maturalny (Polish Matura) results when entering Ukrainian educational institutions.

In turn, the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported on the conditions for the admission of Ukrainian graduates to Polish educational institutions. In particular, Ukrainian documents on basic general secondary education (certificates of completion of 9th grade) are recognized in Poland. In the same way, the results of the external independent evaluation are counted for admission to Polish higher education institutions.

"The Ukrainian party is open to cooperation with Poland at all levels to ensure the access of our youth to quality European education," – summarized Iryna Vereshchuk.

Previously, all entrants to the master's program in 2023 will take a single exam.
