The student of group 201-NG of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", athlete Dariia Holovko took first place and became the European champion at the European Championship among adult juniors (male and female) in the weight category up to 43 kg. At the World Powerlifting Championships among juniors (male and female), boys and girls, which took place in August this year in Oradea (Romania), Dariia took first place in her weight category and became the world champion.
Her coach Oksana Hordienko – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Master of Sport of International class of Ukraine in powerlifting, coach of the Powerlifting Federation in Poltava region was also present at the meeting with the mayor. In October, she became the world champion in classic bench press. For the training of athlete Dariia Holovko, who took the aforementioned prizes at the European and World Championships among adults, juniors (male and female), boys and girls in powerlifting, the coach received a cash prize from the Poltava city community.
"I admire Poltava athletes who make every effort at trainings and win gold medals. I want them to be known. These athletes should be admired and looked up to. I wish you new victories and interesting competitions. You are the future!" – wished Oleksandr Mamai, and also emphasized the importance of encouraging young people to sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
It should be recalled that 15 champion students are awarded honours to the Day of Physical Culture and Sports.
