On July 29-30, the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" hosted the charity historical festival "LEGIO Historica" at the Center of Contemporary Art of the university.

The organizers of the powerful, socially significant event were the municipal institution "Regional Youth Center of the Poltava Regional Council" and the public organization "Idealists" with the assistance of the Youth and Sports Department of the Poltava Regional Military Administration. The main goal of the event was to deepen the knowledge of Poltava residents about the historical monuments of national identity, including the sights of the city of Poltava.

The festival was solemnly opened by the Rector of Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the head of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Maryna Trokhymenko, who noted the important role of history in the formation of democratic norms.

"Everyone should remember the lessons of history, preventing the destruction of national identity in the form of monuments of the past. We must learn from other people's mistakes to avoid making our own.

Of course, today, more than ever before, we need to know the history of Ukraine. Literally yesterday, we celebrated the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, doing everything to make people proud of us, and we really have something to be proud of. Our identity, our genetic code is these vyshyvanky (embroidery shirts) that will be created in the walls of our university tomorrow.

Poltava Polytechnic has more than 200 years of educational traditions and is always open to dialogue with young people. As the head of a leading institution of higher education, I am pleased that you have already managed to pay attention to the dendrological revitalization of the university park that we have done recently. On the territory of the leading higher education institution there is a positive atmosphere permeated with love and pleasant emotions, which inspires new achievements.

I wish you to have a good day today, to enjoy communication and to achieve the goal for which you have all gathered here today.

Poltava Polytechnic is always open to cooperation, realizing the synergy of science, education, culture, and art!

Remembering the past, knowing the present, we are confidently moving into the future of post-war Ukraine!

With faith in Ukraine! Onward to Victory!" – congratulated the participants of the event rector of the university Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

"I am glad to welcome the guests and owners of the institution, Poltava Polytechnic always supports our initiatives in sports, youth areas, and today also in historical ones.

Without the past, there is no present, which means there is no future. We thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the fact that today we can deepen our knowledge, have discussions and gain new skills in order to build a new Ukraine. You are the young generation that will shape our state!

The Law of Ukraine "On the Basic Principles of State Policy in the Field of Establishing Ukrainian National and Civil Identity" has now been adopted, and we are currently developing this area with the support of the Poltava Regional Military Administration and the Poltava Polytechnic.

I wish participants and organizers inspiration and good health! Together to Victory!" – said the head of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Maryna Trokhymenko.
