Poltava Polytechnic representatives took part in the International Student Research Paper Competition “Restoration of Transport Infrastructure of Ukraine: World Experience”. The leading higher educational institution of Poltava was represented by Bohdan Tokar, a student of Urban Construction and Economy, and his supervisor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Building and Civil Engineering Alina Zyhun. Representatives of Poltava Polytechnic won the first place for their scientific paper and on the occasion of Science Day were awarded with honors and received a Badge from Kharkiv Regional Council.
The competition was organized to support gifted young people, reveal their abilities, promote research interest in difficult wartime circumstances, and help them develop proposals for scientific and practical solutions to restore transport infrastructure during the war and post-war reconstruction in order to properly present the scientific achievements of higher education students and young scientists.
The competition was held at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University under the patronage of Kharkiv Regional Council. The organizing committee of the competition included representatives of Kharkiv Regional Council, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, other higher education institutions and NGOs.
Bohdan Tokar's research paper was presented in the section “Computer Modeling and Design in Transport Infrastructure Engineering in Ukraine”. The study examines modern technologies for the restoration of transport facilities, approaches to ensuring their reliability, sustainability, and functionality in the context of hostilities. The task was to show how engineering solutions can contribute to the rapid and high-quality recovery of the country.
“In wartime, the transport infrastructure plays an extremely important role for both the civilian population and the state’s defense capability. It is through roads, bridges and railway junctions that evacuation, humanitarian aid and supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are carried out. Restoring the transport routes is not only an important technical task, but a critical process directly affecting the stability and security of the regions. This is especially true for the frontline areas where the infrastructure has suffered significant damage,” said Associate Professor Alina Zyhun.
The winner of the competition Bohdan Tokar commented: “I am proud to be a student of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and a part of the young generation that is already participating in the process of restoring Ukraine with ideas, knowledge, and initiative. I believe that not only the victory is ahead of us, but also the large-scale renewal of the country, which I want to join as a future specialist. Winning the competition was an important confirmation that the chosen field has real value and practical prospects.”
The administration of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” sincerely congratulates Bohdan Tokar and his supervisor Alina Zyhun on their well-deserved victory in the prestigious International Competition. The achievements of the young scientist and his supervisor are an example of professional perseverance, relevance of research and a sincere desire to contribute to the restoration of Ukraine. We wish you new success, inspiration and further victories on your scientific path!
