The staff, scientists, students and cadets of Poltava Polytechnic Military Training Department gathered at the most patriotic location of the university – the flagpole area on DTEK Alley to celebrate the national holiday – Unity Day, initiated by the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi of February 14, 2022 No. 53/2022 "On urgent measures to consolidate Ukrainian society".
"Academic staff and students of the university are a large and truly unique team. In the conditions of growing hybrid threats, outreach as well as moral and psychological pressure on the public consciousness, all mindful citizens unite to show their responsibility, confidence, unity and the will to win. The whole history of Ukraine has proved that we are a peaceful country that only prospers when it lives in peace with its neighbors. Today's new national holiday is an opportunity to be inspired by the general uplift under the most precious colors of every Ukrainian.
Our academic community once again emphasizes the importance of quality education for the upbringing of patriotic Ukrainian professionals! Students and lecturers are supported by students – and we are really united in our views. The future belongs to education and educated youth!
Let's do our job with dignity and believe in our army! Glory to Ukraine!" – addressed the audience the rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor, lieutenant colonel of the reserve Volodymyr Onyshchenko. The head of Poltava Polytechnic also called for consolidating joint efforts around the development of higher education, the university, opportunities for young people and common aspirations for independence of a young European country.
The honorary mission of hoisting the State Flag on the territory of the University was performed by a participant in hostilities, lieutenant colonel, head of the Department of Organization of Patrol and Post Service Protection and Search for the Military Law Enforcement Service Victor Novitskyi, who thanked the student and academic community for their trust in the territorial defense bodies and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The festive event ended with a patriotic flash mob – dozens of yellow and blue balloons flew into the sky while the incendiary performance of a fourth-year student of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law Yaroslava Pysanka.
Rector of Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko also took part in the citywide celebrations and the ceremony of raising the State Flag in the Square in Memory of the Heroes of Ukraine.
Earlier, Polytechnic students honored the memory of participants in hostilities in other states, the university honored the memory of the deceased graduate Dmytro Koriak, and representatives of student self-government took part in the celebrations of the Unity Day of Ukraine.
