On October 25-26, the scientist of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Candidate of Philology, and Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages Svitlana Halaur conducted a methodical seminar "Schoolchildren Scientific Work: the success trajectory" for teachers of general secondary education institutions of Poltava and its region.
The seminar was attended by scientists, teachers and heads of scientific work of pupils-members of the Poltava Territorial Branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who discussed with colleagues a wide range of relevant scientific and practical issues.
The mixed format of classes and professional communication allowed the organizers to effectively build their own work: on October 25, to involve foreign language teachers of Lyceum №17 “Intellect” of Poltava City Council in the live dialogue and on October 26, to hold a lively online discussion on the issues of preparing and conducting the schoolchildren scientific work as well as its defence with teachers-humanitarians of Myrhorod.
According to Anna Aheicheva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the effectiveness and high efficiency of close interaction among representatives of the secondary and higher education system of Ukraine in the field of student and youth science development is difficult to overestimate.
"Scientists-philologists of Poltava Polytechnic, who are actively involved in consulting, preparing and defending schoolchildren scientific works, and who are members of the jury of the competition-defence of school participants scientific works of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, came up with the idea to organize a methodical seminar on the basis of the university in order to discuss the most burning issues of helping educators of Poltava region to navigate in modern trends and facilitate their own work on preparing a work with their pupils. In my opinion, the set task was handled excellently, and school teachers received really useful cases", - commented the head of the Faculty of Humanities and thanked colleagues for smart and erudite graduates of schools who continue their studies in their native region, replenishing the ranks of the student community of Poltava Polytechnic.
The participants of the seminar thoroughly deliberated on how to choose the topic of the work, effectively organize the research and correctly formulate its results from a methodical point of view. The most important was the issue of avoiding academic dishonesty in work, focusing the pupil on the dialogue of scientific thought.
"By conducting a series of seminars on such topical issues, we try to fully support scientific mentoring and motivate teachers to actively work in the research field. We demonstrate great opportunities and urge not to abandon scientific ambitions due to lack of experience and just because of fear," – said the moderator, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages of Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Halaur.
The participants thanked the scientists of Poltava Polytechnic for their hospitality and useful practical advice provided. They also agreed on further scientific and educational activities in order to share practical experience and borrow the best national and European educational practices.
Earlier, scientists and stakeholders discussed tools to improve the quality of higher education at a seminar by NAQA, and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities presented the successful international experience of the university.
