At the World Championships in Kayaking and Canoeing in the German city of Duisburg, the famous Ukrainian athlete Liudmyla Luzan, a master’s student in the specialty 017 “Physical Culture and Sport” of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, won an Olympic license for Ukraine for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris at a distance of 500 meters in canoeing.
It should be recalled that the Olympic team of the Poltava Region successfully performed at the games of the 32nd Olympiad as part of the National Team. Athletes Zhan Beleniuk, Oleksandr Khyzhniak and Liudmyla Luzan brought gold and silver medals to Ukraine. In 2023, the Olympic champion Liudmyla Luzan entered the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and continues to gain victories on the international sports arena.
“Our defenders demonstrate strength and character not only on the battlefield, but also in sports arenas,” – commented the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Filip Pronin. – “During the year, the titled athletes of the Poltava Region obtained licenses for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the 2025 World Games in China. Oleksandr Khyzhniak, Liudmyla Luzan, Oleh Kukharyk and Ihor Trunov, Zhan Beleniuk, Liliia Zanko – we are proud of each and every one of them! Special attention is paid to popularization of sports and physical rehabilitation of military personnel. Sports development is the way to physical recovery and mental health. In general, 2023 was a year full of large-scale sports events, which brought effective results for the sports elite of the Poltava Region. In total, sportsmen of the region won 298 gold, 115 silver, and 175 bronze medals at all-Ukrainian and international competitions. Many champions are students of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
