Polytechnic Modernizes Oil and Gas Training Ground

During the VI Industry Forum “Production. Well Stimulation. Well Workover”, Rector of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko presented the Education and Production Oil and Gas Center. Besides the cooperation with business, the Center works on modernizing the Education and Science Oil and Gas Ground, so that students can learn both the requirement and the technological processes of the industry right at university.

“We have already received the first part of wellhead equipment. Our students will be able to get quality professional training thanks to the existing and modernized equipment at our training ground, so that they will be able to work with real wellhead equipment in the future at the open wells all around the world. As of today, we can show the production of hydrocarbon fluids with the free-flow production method (with formation pressure imitation), with gas lifting method, with a sucker rod (horsehead pump) and with a deep well pump. The team of the Education and Production Center, together with the administration of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and personally Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko put maximum effort to make it possible for students to use the new possibilities at the updated training ground as soon as possible,” Director of the Education and Production Center Petro Holub commented

“Our university has great infrastructure of modern educational and scientific laboratories and centers for oil and gas education, but we do not stop at what we have achieved and bring to life another large project – the modernization of oil and gas training ground. This will become another special feature of our university. Students will be able to learn the technological processes identical to the real oil and gas production site conditions and become a part of these processes,” Dmytro Kliuchka, Engineer of the Education and Production Center, added.

The Education and Production Center has also been setting up an automatized working place for forming the professional competences needed for an operator at oil and gas production site. It will be identical to the real operator’s working place at the well, using the modern software that is used at most of the oil and gas production sites of Poltava region and is equal to the software packages of famous companies, such as SIMATIC WinCC and Siemens.
