As part of the second stage of the campaign, the university received 1,420 E27 and 130 E14 energy-saving lamps. New light bulbs with reduced energy consumption and high light output are installed in classrooms and dormitory rooms.
“Poltava Polytechnic maintains its status as the most environmentally friendly university in the region and introduces “green” technologies into its innovative scientific and educational activities, which will help support the stability of the Ukrainian energy system.
Providing an offline educational process, we also take care of comfortable conditions for learning and comprehensive development of young people, as well as for the work of scientific and pedagogical workers, even in conditions of an energy crisis. The university has purchased several generators in case of power outages. And now we are modernizing engineering systems and introducing additional measures to reduce the level of energy consumption.
Participation in such state programs is also a good opportunity to contribute to raising the level of environmental awareness of citizens, especially young people, and to show that every Ukrainian can join the fight against the energy crisis,” – commented the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
It should be recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the program for exchanging old incandescent lamps with LED ones by its resolution No. 25 “On the implementation of an experimental project to create favourable conditions for ensuring the effective consumption of electric energy by the population” dated January 10, 2023. Every Ukrainian can take advantage of this option by submitting a corresponding application through the “Diia” application and receiving new energy-saving lamps to replace old incandescent lamps in Ukrposhta branches.
“28 educational and 13 medical institutions in 17 communities of the Poltava region took advantage of the opportunity to exchange old lamps for new LEDs free of charge. They have already received 8,806 energy-saving lamps. A total of 60 institutions applied in the region.
Currently, the second stage of lamps exchange is underway in Ukraine. Legal entities can take this opportunity. Kindergartens, vocational schools, universities, sports and music schools, polyclinics, hospitals, dental clinics and other specialized institutions. In general, since the beginning of the campaign, residents of the region have already exchanged more than 900,000 lamps,” – said head of Poltava RMA Dmytro Lunin.
The program is implemented by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ukrposhta with the support of the European Union as one of the tools to support the energy system of Ukraine, which will allow surviving during the energy crisis and ensuring the balance of energy consumption during peak hours. Disposal of old lamps will be carried out in accordance with the rules and international standards.
It should be recalled that the Poltava Polytechnic is successfully implementing the project of the European Investment Bank “Higher Education of Ukraine. Energy efficiency and sustainable development” and as a socially responsible university does not raise tuition fees.
Earlier, Poltava Polytechnic confirmed the status of an environmental university and its position in the TOP-10 among Ukrainian higher education institutions.
