On January 25, 2022, at a meeting of the specialized Academic Council of DF 44.052.002 of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” under the leadership of Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Public Governance,  Administration and Law Volodymyr Hryshko, assistant of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism Iryna Vasylivna Novytska successfully defended her dissertation on the topic “Managing the promotion of organic products on domestic and foreign markets” in the specialty 073 “Management”.

The scientific paper for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy was carried out at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” within the research topic of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism “Mechanisms of implementing the strategy of socio-economic development of Ukraine in conditions of international integration”. Research supervisor – Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Iryna Chychkalo-Kondratska.

According to the scientist, the topic of the dissertation research was chosen quite carefully, since today organic products manufacturing in Ukraine has an extraordinary socio-economic significance, which consists in the fact that it is able to satisfy the needs of the population for high-quality products and contribute to the protection of the environment. Although recently the field of organic products manufacturing in Ukraine is developing rapidly, there are issues that hinder its functioning.

“In particular, attention should be paid to the imperfect mechanism of state support for organic production, insufficiently developed infrastructure of the organic market, unformed sustainable demand for organic products among domestic consumers and a rather low level of their awareness of the advantages and health benefits of such products. Therefore, it is important for producers not only to produce organic products, but also to be able to effectively promote them on domestic and foreign markets. The theoretical provisions, conclusions and recommendations given in the dissertation study are brought to the level of methodological developments and proposals for improving the management of the promotion of organic products at enterprises, and can also be used in the activities of regional management bodies and non-commercial institutions. They are intended for implementation into the practice of strategic and tactical management of enterprises for the production, processing and sale of organic products,” – commented the author of the study.

The scientist’s personal contribution consisted in the development of a methodical approach to the assessment of the organic products promotion management and a conceptual approach to the selection of a strategy for the organic products promotion. The scientist substantiated the use of tools for the organic products promotion on domestic and foreign markets in accordance with sales channels.

The reviewers of the presented scientific paper were Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor of the Department of Roads, Geodesy, Land Management and Rural Buildings, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Hryhorii Sharyi and Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Logistics of the Poltava Polytechnic Liudmila Boldyrieva. The official opponents were Alina Burliai, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics at the Uman National University of Horticulture, Tetiana Kviatko, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing and Media Communications of the State Biotechnology University.

“Organic production and sales of such is not only a promising direction for improving the company’s position on the market, but also an opportunity for systemic sustainable development and meeting the needs of the population for quality and useful products. Having unequal price conditions compared to products of traditional production, a conscious consumer will choose an organic product, knowing its advantages and value characteristics. And even under completely unequal conditions, but betting on the consumer buying a product with a higher added value, the organic product will have an advantage. It is this fact that determines the relevance and timeliness of the presented dissertation research,” – said the official opponent, Doctor of Economic Sciences Alina Burliai, in her response to the dissertation about the relevance of the researched topic.

We wholeheartedly congratulate Iryna Novytska on her successful defense and wish her further professional success and inspiration for scientific research!
