In the Central Library of the Poltava City Territorial Community, students of the third and fourth year of the specialty 029 “Information, Librarianship and Archiving” of the Poltava Polytechnic, together with the teacher of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Liudmyla Cherednyk, attended the presentation of a new book by a famous Ukrainian art critic, bibliographer, museologist, teacher, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, the International Association of Art Critics Vitalii Khanko.

The book has a symbolic title – “The Flow of Artistic Life”. The author himself commented on her choice as follows: “The waves change, the weather changes. And accordingly, the river flows. This flow is endless – the development of art, culture and, in general, spirituality in Ukraine.”

The book is about famous and forgotten artists, masters and craftsmen whose lives and works are connected with the Poltava Region. The monograph covers a rather long period: the XX – the beginning of the XXI centuries, that is, more than 120 years. The author researches and analyses the biographies of artists, the creative features of their talents. The story about each of them is accompanied by numerous photographs and reproductions of their works.

Vitalii Mykolaiovych talks with great enthusiasm about the talented people of Poltava Region. His story is full of interesting moments from the lives of artists, musicians, potters, folk craftsmen and craftswomen. With just a few well-chosen words, the researcher successfully characterizes the features of their creativity.

According to the art critic, over the past 120 years, “the best talent of the Poltava region in architecture was Vasyl Krychevskyi, in folk painting – Kateryna Bilokur, in carving – Prokip Yukhymenko”, and it is extremely difficult to decide on sculptors and graphic artists.

At the end of the story, Vitalii Khanko said a phrase full of optimism: “Despite various cataclysms of social life, our people in the Poltava region managed to preserve their identity and artistic creation of the surrounding world.”

“It has long been known that in art a person finds new knowledge, and answers to vital questions, and relaxation from everyday bustle, and pleasure. According to the famous Spanish and French artist Pablo Picasso, ‘art washes away the dust of everyday life from the soul’. Such meetings are important for young people, as they help in our difficult times not only to preserve mental health, but also to expand personal worldview horizons,” – said Liudmyla Cherednyk.

The students admitted that during the meeting they discovered many new unknown names who glorified their native land in various artistic forms and genres, they had a desire to learn more about those who nurture Ukrainian art, the fame of which overcomes all borders and spreads throughout the world.

It should be recalled that a meeting of the literary studio “To the Origins” was held in Poltava Polytechnic on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language.
