Oleksandra Solod and Daria Suptelia, students of group 202-BM of specialty 192 "Construction and Civil Engineering" of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", became participants in the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme in the field of higher education at Polish university – a partner of Poltava Polytechnic – Bialystok University of Technology. During the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, starting in March, future female engineers have been deepening their knowledge of professional disciplines, acquiring new practical skills and abilities, and mastering additional professional competencies at the Bialystok University of Technology. The students are actively spending meaningful leisure time, participating in a wide variety of cultural and educational events, as well as getting to know Polish culture.
Summarizing almost two months of studying at a leading Polish university, students of the Poltava Polytechnic shared their positive impressions and talked about the wide opportunities and prospects for the professional growth of European youth.
In particular, sophomore Oleksandra Solod spoke about the peculiarities of the educational process and the format of studies at the Bialystok University of Technology: "We really like studying at a Polish university – our partner. The teachers are very friendly, open to communication and treat us, Ukrainian students, with great respect. The study of specialized disciplines is carried out in English, and the format of the presentation of the material is easy and understandable."
It is worth noting that when choosing a study program, future professionals in construction and civil engineering had a real opportunity to choose educational disciplines as close as possible to the Ukrainian-language educational program.
"In order to expand the range of our professional knowledge in various manifestations of the profession we have mastered, we were able to combine educational subjects similar to our specialty. The comfortable conditions of studying at a Polish university provide an opportunity to learn even more interesting things about the chosen profession as well as borrow and study the best European practices to use the acquired skills while working for the post-war reconstruction and restoration of our country," – adds Daria Suptelia.
According to female students, even the very essence of the content of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program involves not only the exchange of existing theoretical and practical titles, but also close communication with student youth from different parts of the world.
"We can get to know new people, have fun, and relax during our free time from studying. This is a great opportunity to improve English and Polish language skills, find good friends, and get an idea of the country's cultural background," – said the participants of the academic exchange program.
A multiple participant in international academic exchange programs, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Anna Pavelieva spoke about the wide opportunities for goal-oriented and professionally motivated student youth of leading Ukrainian institutions of higher education in terms of sharing the acquired experience and expanding the cultural outlook of future professionals in various fields: "For students of Poltava Polytechnic, such a colossal practical experience will be an effective platform for successful employment, broad professional prospects, formation of leadership qualities, purposefulness, initiative and perseverance in achieving the most ambitious scientific, educational and professional goals. Students participating in youth exchanges deepen their knowledge of the English language, get acquainted with the specifics of the culture of the country they are going to study in, and are inspired by European democratic values."
The purpose of the Erasmus+ international academic mobility programmes is the exchange of knowledge, teaching and research methods, as well as work experience in the European and international environment, the acquisition and development of communicative and language competencies, the development of critical thinking, skills in finding and analyzing solutions to challenges, the improvement of research methods, promotion of personal development.
It should be noted that despite the full-scale invasion of the russian federation on the territory of our country, the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", as one of the best classical universities in the country and the flagship of higher education in the Poltava region, continues to create comfortable conditions for the harmonious, comprehensive development of a new generation of scientists, talented students, successful, competitive graduates.
It should be recalled that the representatives of the Polytechnic became the first Ukrainians participating in the academic mobility program in Greenland.
Previously, female Polytechnic students studied under the Erasmus+ long-term academic exchange programme at a Romanian partner university, six female Polytechnic students studied under the long-term academic mobility program in Latvia, four female Polytechnic students studied under the exchange program at the Pomeranian Academy, female students of the Polytechnic took part in a youth exchange dedicated to discrimination and gender inequality, and a Polytechnic teacher underwent online training under the "Active Citizens" programmr from the British Council in Ukraine.
