In accordance with the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated October 6, 2022 "On awarding in 2022 the Verkhovna Rada Prize for the contribution of youth to the development of parliamentarism and local self-government", the Prize was awarded to ten active citizens who conscientiously contributed to the state-building process through their own educational and professional activities and an open civic stance, protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, development of parliamentarism and local self-government, achieved significant success in solving social and legal issues. This year's Prizes of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were awarded to five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an officer of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, deputies of local councils, civil servants, volunteers, scientists, heads of public associations.
Among the laureates are five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an officer of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, deputies of local councils, civil servants, officials of local self-government, volunteers, scientists, heads of public associations. One of the ten laureates of the Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is the head of the Trade Union Committee of Students and Postgraduates of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", PhD student of the specialty "Construction and Civil Engineering" Oleksandr Drobotia. According to him, the high parliamentary award will serve as an additional incentive to work even more efficiently for the benefit of the hometown, the university and all of the Ukrainian people.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the administration, scientific-pedagogical staff and student team, personally to the rector of the Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, for creating favorable conditions for professional and personal growth, comprehensive support and assistance to youth, trade union initiatives, student self-government activities. Together we implement many interesting youth projects, motivate young people to become more confident in their own abilities, to study the practices of local self-government and parliamentarism, and take an active part in the life of their own country," – commented Oleksandr Drobotia. Previously, he was elected as the head of the Youth Council of the Poltava Regional Council of Trade Unions and a member of the Youth Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.
The Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the contribution of youth to the development of parliamentarism and local self-government was founded in 2003 with the aim of involving young people in law-making processes, moral and material encouragement of its best representatives, and is awarded to persons under 35 years of age, youth and, as an exception, children's public organizations that actively contributed to the processes of state-building, development of parliamentarism and local self-government, achieved significant success in solving social and legal issues. Ten prizes are awarded every year, the monetary part of each is five hundred tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, the application for awarding the Prize is submitted to the parliament by the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism.
The scientific-pedagogical and student staff of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" sincerely congratulates the laureate with a high state award and wishes new important achievements for the well-being and prosperity of our young European state!
It should be recalled that two students of the Polytechnic became scholarship holders of the parliament, three university students and a college student received personal scholarships from the Poltava City Council, and the Academic Council of the University supported the candidacies of four young scientists for obtaining nominal state scholarships.
Earlier, the young citizens of Poltava were presented with citations from the mayor and the Youth Council of the Poltava Territorial Community.
